Thinking of a house name

I once moved next door to a house called 'Itsars'. When I got to know the neighbours I was told it was so called 'Because we have paid off our mortgage'.0

If I were to name my house it would be "Ty Fach" which I think is Welsh for "little house".
Was born in Wales but dont speak the language, so apologies to any Welsh speakers. Am based in the Midlands.
Find something that YOU are happy with, after all you have to live with it, not anyone else.1 -
We have a sign up with a what3words location on it. Seeing that your plot will have lots of different 10ft square blocks on it, you might find something amusing as we did with ours. We picked one from about half way down the drive.

Just making sure you know that "Ty Fach" does mean 'little house' and would be a nice name for a house, but is also a polite Welsh term for a toilet!

I used to smile when I passed a house named Two Hoots .....
I suspected it reflected a certain attitude......0 -
I always fancied calling a house 'The Terrapins', a name which I felt took one from the sublime to the ridiculous.
I don't mind if you decide to borrow it.1 -
pinkteapot said:You've got me wondering now.... We bought a new-build 18 months ago that has a name, not a number (small village where all the houses have names - delivery drivers love it). I remember the builder telling us they had a nightmare with the local council over choosing the names - council rejected several they wanted to use. So how does it work if we wanted to change it? Can we just do that or do the council get a say?
Not sure we would though - have never had a new-build before so hadn't realised what a pain it is for the first year while you wait for your address to filter onto everyone's databases from the Royal Mail master file. Right pain changing the address on your car insurance when the insurer doesn't believe your new house exists. *sigh*0
