Thanks @southern_chick. We didn’t get one last year on the proviso we would get a decent one this year….the one they have given is nowhere near decent for one year, let alone to cover two! The unions declined it, but they have put it in place over their heads, so there’s a lot of drum banging that will probably go nowhere. Of course we deserve more, but I don’t think striking helps…all that gets you is less money while you aren’t in work. 😢southern_chick said:I totally agree with chocolate being one of the main food groups and always count it as one of my five a day. It is the only bean I eat!!! Hope the dog gets the hang of the steps soon 🐕🐕 Finger crossed for your pay rise. I work for the NHS and as far as I know we’re not getting one this year so with the NI increase we’re looking at a pay cut 🥵🥵. My payrise is usually around £20! And it's called a cost of living rise 😂 they gave us and extra 1% last year but I just put it all in my pension as doesnt make a fat lot of difference. Wondering if this year will be around 8% like the true cost of living...I suspect not. We don't even get any rise for time served etc etc. I had to fight for one when I qualified. I do appreciate that at least a nominal rise is better than none at all 😔Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

That's exactly my philosopy now @moving_forward. What i most want is to stop working FT and to achieve that I need to pay off my mortgage, so each time i resist spending money on non essentials, i think 'that's a bit more towards my mortgage'. I resisted 2 books in the CS and put away the £3 i didnt spend in my online account that I use for mortgage overpaymentsmoving_forward said:I saw a comment tonight and thought of you (and me)
Don't give up what you most want for what you want today.
I thought it was a good way of thinking.
But you have to find what works for you as we're all different

Happy Friday !
I got paid yesterday, my salary increase gives me less than £9 extra a month - I don't think it will change my life (my fave sourdough bread in the c00p has gone up 35p since xmas so i can use it for that i suppose)LBM - October 2018; finally debt free on 16 March 2021
