I actually have something spooky to tell you all…I sometimes do my own tarot, just for fun. I did a 3 card one in March, then on Tuesday (I think) I did another and got the exact same 3 cards. I shuffled and cut them really well…what are the chances? You’ll also like to know that one of the cards was death 😮 An ending of something, but hopefully not of me 😬
as the other 2 were pentacle / money cards, I’m hopeful that it’s the death of my bad spending habits…we shall see 😁
Ooh, that's exciting! My SiL gave me £15 Amazon vouchers - I've spent them 100 times over in my mind 😂 it's like a gateway drug - once I start spending.....

So true mf! Also ‘change isn’t easy…if it was, everyone would do it’
    I like easy… that’s why it’s hard.
I have just sent another £5 to the mortgage overpayment. A week tomorrow until pay day. I think I may retry the weekly pocket money next month. I feel in a better place where I might stick to it now.

I'm reading up on kakeibo. The Japanese way of budgeting.
I'm trying to find a simple system that Mr M_F can follow too. My current system of spreadsheets and budget app is too complicated for him or rather too much effort as he's not stupid just lazy 😂
    It basically involves.
    Writing not app
    Income
    Less fixed expenses
Less adhock for that month (car insurance, not etc)
Then decide what you want to save
The rest is recorded under just 4 headings
    Needs/survival - food (not chocolate unfortunately 😔)
    Wants/optional - gifts Amazon purchases
Culture - seems to be theatre tickets books learning but some people put entertainment in here. Basically quality of life stuff
Extra - stuff came up you forgot such as extra gifts or car repairs
You then think about totals and try to get your spending inline with your values.
I think the 4 easy categories will appeal to Mr M_F even if I get hives at the lack of detail 🥴

@moving_forward that’s something I’ve never heard of. But I strongly protest that chocolate isn’t food….it most definitely is! It’s one of the main food groups…fruit, veg, chocolate, meat (not necessarily in that order). Maybe it just got lost in translation?

Good morning and happy Friday 📚🍫☕️
Just a week until pay day. I really want to do my monthly round up, but it’s too early. I’m waiting for the payslips to come on line so I can see for certain how miserable my pay rise is when balanced against the NI increase. I’m hoping to be £50 up, but we shall see.
Today is just work and I’m hoping to finish my book. It’s a frequent re-read (2 books and I’m on the last), but I’d forgotten a, how long it was and b, how foolish the main character was. When I was younger some things would have gone by me that stick in my throat now. It’s obvious that the man who wrote it about a female lead had no experience of females at all, but a fair bit of wishful thinking 😖 The backbone of the story is good, it just needs rewriting.
I struggled to sleep last night and am very tired this morning. MrWW’s random shift pattern does me no good.
Dog is still refusing her steps, but portly cat is tripping up and down them as it saves him a jump 🙄
Oh, and the hobby place re order turned up yesterday…I have lots of blue fat quarters 😁
I hope you all have a wonderful day filled with sunshine and happiness 🍫📚☕️

Glad at least someone is making use of the steps. Give it time.
I count chocolate as one of my five a day. It is a bean after all ☺️

  • I totally agree with chocolate being one of the main food groups and always count it as one of my five a day. It is the only bean I eat!!!  Hope the dog gets the hang of the steps soon 🐕🐕   Finger crossed for your pay rise. I work for the NHS and as far as I know we’re not getting one this year so with the NI increase we’re looking at a pay cut 🥵🥵. Glad your fat quarter’s turned up at last xx
slowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T
