  • Good morning and happy Saturday ❄️📚☕️🍫
I was planning a trip to town, but the roads are snowy ☹️ I don’t like slip sliding over country roads with ditches and no proper edges…just in case 😬 so I will wait and see if it melts or not.
I still have 2 weekends to go until pay day and quite frankly February has almost equalled ‘the bad month’ so March needs to be saintly 😢 MrWW is wanting a ‘big thing’ and hinting he’d like to borrow all my savings and pay back in a few months…I really don’t want to do this, but the quiet pressure resulted in me frittering more in an if I don’t have enough I can’t do it kind of way! I need to get a grip. He’s quietly annoyed I won’t offer it and I’m quietly annoyed he won’t just wait until he has the money for something that isn’t an emergency and isn’t needed. It’s what’s left of a small inheritance and I don’t want to part with it just in case something goes wrong and I don’t get it back, but then I’ve shaved a little bit off in a personal paddy, which is no good at all. He is due to clear all his debts in a few months and can then do what he wants with the rest, I’d like him to be excited about it, but instead he’s itching to buy ‘the thing’ 😬
And after 6 days of being excellent with food, I went up 2lb’s this morning..how? 😖
So that’s the WW moan for today. I hope you all have stupendous Saturdays 🍫🍫🍫☕️☕️☕️📚📚📚

  • None of my business but no WW don't loan the money. You have spent the last few months working away trying to improve your situation making compromises and it's been bloomin hard work.
You keep finances separate and it seems to be a good idea.
He needs to learn to wait and get the money his way. He's still In debt for gawds sake so borrowing more even off you for a want isn't really his lightbulb moment is it.
And don't tell him how much you got if he's going to try and have some of it.

Oh dear, WW, I think you've told us in the past that you've been messed about financially by someone else so it's totally natural to feel cautious and not want to be pressured into handing anything over. However, it's hard to resist when someone you love is doing the pressuring, even very quietly!
Couldn't you point out that it's all tied up and not easy to get to?

Lovely day here, at least from the window. Going to brunch with a friend - have definitely spent too much on socialising this month but it is so nice to be able to! Think I need a separate pot for it but my bank only allows 5 pots...🤔
  • Morning WinterWarrior
How annoying to have put on weight rather than lost :( I think it can be like that though, it happened to me last year - took about 3 weeks of eating well before i lost a single lb.
I now find saving up for things and paying outright makes me appreciate them much more. Obviously you can't do that with everything but I really do not want ever to be in debt again.  Hope Mr WW will be ok to wait a few months for 'the thing'.
I got paid yesterday as my payday is 20th, i don't like being paid early but i only had £7 left and need petrol and cat food!
    Happy Saturday !

  • @WinterWarrior could you say or move the majority of your money to notice accounts or premium bonds so you can't get your hands on the money quickly and explain as he would need to wait for your money it would make more sense to wait until he can afford it.

  • Thanks everyone. Half is in premium bonds and I have said it hard to get back out. I absolutely know his intention would be to pay it back, but I’m full of what ifs…there are so many things that could happen! He will be getting well over twice what my windfall was and although I have expressed a hope that he’ll remember what I gifted him (🤭) I wouldn’t expect more than that and would never get involved in whatever he wants to do with what he has left. I don’t know if you are familiar with the sense and sensibility with Kate Winslet in? Where the brother and his wife start off saying they’ll give the sisters plenty to live on and it gradually changes to next to nothing, as why would they need it when they are living so quietly (because they have to as they have no money)? That’s how I think of MrWW when I reminded him how much I gave him and each time he talks it gets a little less 🤣 But I’ve already said if he needs it for his ‘big unnecessary thing’ then that’s fine…I just want to keep hold of my own 😬
    I’m such a moaner 🤣
@elbree I highly recommend a Monzo account on the side. If you go for the free account, you can still have as many pots as you like. You get a bank card, but mostly I transfer between that and my main bank account instantly when I need to spend a pots money. It’s really easy to open, you do it online and just do a tiny video declaration of who you are…weird! But it works so well for pots.
I moved another £5 to the mortgage overpayment today, I’ve been slow this month with them.

I wouldn’t loan him the money if it was me. Especially for something that’s not an emergency. That money is your security should you need it.

  • Ahem…taps microphone 🎤….I may have had a peanut butter snickers this afternoon 🤣 it evilly announced itself as 95 calories, but actually that was for just one of the two bits in the packet…who does that!! I ate them both…and they weren’t anything to write home about…I won’t get another (looks sideways at the caramel galaxy set aside for Sundays treat)….
