How Worried Should I be? Should I change Passport No etc? Scammed by Driving Licence 3rd Party.

I've accidentally used a third party to renew my driving licence: LicenceSafe

How worried should I be about this website? Should I take action about my data?

They have my passport number, my NI, my driving licence number, my credit card number, my address and my DOB?

They have actually renewed my licence.

I'm about to file a case with ActionFraud - but what good will this do?

You were quite happy to give them that information, and they've performed the service you hired them to perform.
    I don't see the fraud.

Whether you needed to or not is another question. They advertised their service honestly, with full disclosure that they were a third party charging for their service.

Its not a fraud, so wouldnt bother with Action Fraud. Sadly you and many others should be using .org goverment sites.
Theres many other sites like this.
  • Certainly report it and complain to you MP as well. So many people are getting tricked into using these companies masquerading as the real deal and losing out financially because of it.
I don't think you have to worry too much about your data; these companies just charge you for what should have been free had you used the gov site. But why would they want your passport number, that doesn't sound right?
  • Should I/can I change my passport and NI number?

Umm, .org would typically be US non-profits.

    I think you mean gov.uk

You can only change your passport number by getting a new passport. How long does your original one have before expiry?

You cannot get a new NI number - and even if you could, it would cause more problems than it would prevent.

What actual risk do you foresee?

I don't know what a cyber criminal could do with all of this data? Identity theft?

How much more obvious should they be?

Those are screenshots from just the main first page on the website and the very first "renewal" page.
But why would they want your passport number, that doesn't sound right?
Because, when you apply online for a driving licence, the photo from your passport is used.

It was a renewel, and no it wasn't obvious, I was tired and rushing because my licence was out of date.
