Myself and my Parents booked to go on a royal Caribbean sailing from Southampton in October 2020 but of course it got cancelled due to coronavirus understandable.
We then used our FCC to book on another cruise in august 2021, not many sail from Southampton and my parents have to book time off work way in advance.
we found one and they was paying £2156 and I was only paying £1506.

Anyway that got cancelled however they announced that they would be doing British isle cruise from UK only.
We logged in to our royal Caribbean account and the itinerary had changed to a British isle cruise, we received an email given us option of refund, future cruise credit or lift and shift for 2022. We rang up royal Caribbean and was on for an hour and never resolved the situation.
we booked to go on this British isle cruise that was on our planner that told us we was on after we was told we wouldn’t be automatically moved over to it.

I’ve come to look at my booking confirmation and they are charging me £3,154 for single occupation room. My parents is a couple hundred more than original price but mine £2000 extra than before.
Tried to talk to them about and have not explained why it’s costing me more than my parents and not even apologised.

A lot of the cruise companies are keeping prices high while they use up all the future cruise credits as that is money in their bank.
MY advice take full refunds till the pricing calms down again.
(although some lines won't cash refund a FCC just restore it)
Always check and double check prices especially if booking solo as the prices vary from no extra to more than double the price of each person with double occupancy(occasionally you get the solo cheaper but that is rare)
Which cruise is it and which cabin grades there may be options.

Was your original reservation for a single cabin and the new reservation for a single occupancy of a twin/double cabin? That could explain the price difference.0

Literally same cabin as previous booking.0

The situation is the first booking was very good value, rather than the new booking being overcharged.
Charging double for single occupancy is normal as on board spend by singles is far less than a couple and the same number of staff need paying for.
Same issue also works in reverse. If a third and fourth person shares a cabin there can be generous discounts.
Imagine if every cabin on a cruise ship was occupied by a single person. The fixed running costs would need to be met by half the number of passengers.0 -
Always best to accept a refund, if an option, in these circumstances IMO.

Prices are going to stay high for the next couple of years.. Its just supply and demand.
If your going to go cruising regardless, then you may as well take the credit, because its essentially "free money". That rate is going to be elevated whether you have a credit or not.
As long as there is an increased demand for cruises, they can charge a bit more..
If your vacation may not be a cruise, then get the refund and see what happens..

Of course they will say that its been the way lines and TA's always play it book now prices are going up ship is nearly full.
Cruise lines have ships queueing up to get back in service and with new ones rolling of the production lines there will be no shortage of cabins and prices will return to normal levels very quickly.
Capacity will exceed demand as it always has until the industry got shut down march 2020
There are already cheap regular cruise in the schedules for 2022
The very short supply UK cruises this year price drops are starting to happen.
