We're really struggling. We've been searching for over 10 months for a place to move to in our area of the countryside. Our search radius covers nearly 30 miles.
I've grown up in this area, but the influx of people relocating to rural areas has made our already struggling housing market fall flat.
We'll hold out as long as we can do, but expect to be put in the heartbreaking position where this influx of people relocating will probably going to mean we have to move out of our home county.

If we were looking in our area now - we bought 18 months ago - with our budget & requirements, we’d be lucky to find anything apart from new builds and even then they’d be more than we wanted to pay.
There’s just not much coming onto our local market (East Yorkshire), that said, there are a few houses that don’t seem to be shifting.0 -
Impact of Covid is constraining activity. Easy to forget that many people are simply treading water while waiting to see to what the future brings.
Only so many people can rebase themselves miles away from their place of work. Likewise over time, will the novelty wear off.0 -

There are currently 11 under offer and 2 still available - both new builds being sold within 2 years of first purchase. 44 sold in the last two years, 14 were the 'dregs' of the new Bellway development, thankfully now completed.0

There have been loads around here for sale the last month or 3.
Most are SSTC within a week when reasonably priced.
There are some that are over priced that havent shifted for 6 months however0 -

Not much being added in my local area (nr Bristol and semi rural) mainly new builds left unsold and a couple of older homes at the same price of the new builds but offering very little competition.
One looks lovely inside, great space and 5 bedrooms but not the best location and a bit unappealing from the outside but quite a good price.
Houses had been selling really quick, and lots of people taking to social media to try and find a home before agents got involved, but it seems to have lost some steam for now.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

Dropping the budget down to what I actually decided to set when looking there's 714 properties within a 40 mile radius.
That's just on one platform, let alone checking others.
Options are keep looking in whatever radius you've set, or extend your radius like some of us did.
40 miles is a MASSIVE search area! 😂
I had a 80 mile radius search over several counties when I was looking, then whittled it down based on train costs, as my salary wouldn't get me the mortgage needed for a £180k flat close to work and friends. Instead I compromised and moved further out knowing my train and bus commute or drive will take a while.
Even by the time I retire I still wouldn't have spent the difference I've saved by living further away from where I work in commute costs.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
