I am going to follow @HereToday instructions to the letter, should hopefully have it done by Tuesday once the parts arrive, will post the outcome here.

I didn't need the licence key myself but I decided to use a little free program to extract it for me, in advance of the upgrade, just in case. It's a simple download and runs in an instant. There are probably tons of programs that do this but I used one called OemKey.

Update.
The 4gb of ram arrived this morning and now fitted, i did not realise how easy it was to fit, hopefully the next part goes as well when the ssd arrives.

Update.
The sdd arrived this morning and i have now replaced the old one, i have updated windows and adding the other bits that i want to add.
All seems to be working fine and a lot faster.
