Really interesting. I want scoring but found the actual questions and explanations fascinating.coffeehound said:I've already been confirmed as not autistic, don't know what ADHD is. Whenever I read about things I can relate in some ways but not completely and just end up getting confused.
I would suggest watching this video and see if it makes sense for you

Yeah, when you hear the real-world effects of ADHD, it is a lot more relateable than the clinical diagnostic criteria. A lot of similarity with autism too, so little wonder that a lot of people think they might be AS when in fact they are ADHDReally interesting. Actually, its a really normal and common bit of small talk. Its generally considered to be a compliment and a nicety.ushjr said:
Questioning why someone has a 16 year old son because they don't look old enough is out of order, they're still whatever age they are.MovingForwards said:"Anything in particular what?"
Why is it disrespectful saying someone looks young for their age? It would be disrespectful saying you thought they were older!
You can still keep your private life private. It's a case of only saying enough so people don't think you're ignorant, arrogant and other things.
It's interesting how you keep bringing your posts back round to food. Have you contacted your doctor about the issues you face with it as it should be part of your life, not your life revolving around it.
Have you always struggled with small talk/chit chat?0 -
It's all fair and good about the cafe owner conversation, no one has said any particular job is bad. You're the one unhappy, you're the one putting posts up all the time and looking for answers, when they're given you only pick out part of the reply but won't do anything to change your situation.
You want to do something with cars, but are not willing to do anything to work towards it, take a pay cut, move to a cheaper area or any of the other things you've mentioned.
The examples I have were just some random ones as there's loads of different MH with different traits and signs. Piece things together and it starts to make sense.
Have you even looked for any videos like I suggested?

No it doesn’t.ushjr said:

Both saying someone looks young or old for their age is disrespectful because both imply the person is abnormal.
Given the unusually spiky way that you choose to interpret completely normal conversations it’s going to be hard for you to fit in in most work places.
It’s a choice, how you act round people, and the choices that you seem to be making aren’t ones that I would.0 -
I think it's more important to have a purpose in life and feel like you're contributing. I'm disabled and have never truly worked, and I instead get my satisfaction from taking part in research, and helping to run the advocacy group I attend. I am also vegan which gives me a sense of peace and purpose.1

I just want to add, there are some jobs that people consider "lowly" like cleaning, that are actually extremely essential, and should be held in higher esteem.3

But the OP earns mega bucks from what I understand of anything posted from new year from them.Raspberry_Queen said:I just want to add, there are some jobs that people consider "lowly" like cleaning, that are actually extremely essential, and should be held in higher esteem.
They cannot settle. Like many people who may have wondered into new jobs this year.
I do now understand as their request to start work vey early of a day as is my idea of hell. They were previously laughed at but actually I I now understand where they are coming from. I don't want to do a telesales job for near on 48 hours a week, who would unless they ae a workaholic and overbearingly 'result' confident. I wouldn't mind cleaning or working on a supermarket checkout but as the programme 6 months ago on "Covid situation" jobs went "you don't have to take the risk the job holder doesn't know the role" or something to these lines!0 -
Wow, you've watched one video someone had posted into this thread for you, but obviously nothing else.
Do you want your profession or your dream as now it's pointing to the former.
With regards to the salad thing, again you're taking it out of context, the person probably thought you don't eat much. It leads us back to small talk, "no thanks I don't like salad I'm a burger guy" is better than saying "no thanks".
What is it you want people to say? What are you looking to achieve? You need to take steps to make these things happen. If you're just wanting a place to vent then say, if you want help go to your GP and get the necessary referrals.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
There's nothing wrong with not wanting a career.
I'm exactly the same as you @ushjr, except i'm a mum desperate to retire at 40. I don't mind retraining but i feel so jaded with corporate life that i can't muster up the enthusiasm even in things that i once thought i'd like to retrain or take a sabbatical and do. I'd love to do something more 'unskilled' and local that can be sustained for longer, such as working part-time or e-commerce or spreadbetting (or a mix of all) till i'm 70+ or physically incapable to.
Husband would like me to keep going so that we can afford private school fees. The reality is if i stop now i'll never be able to command this earning capacity again, and I feel like i can't give it up at the peak, in order to afford a more comfortable life later on. I don't really have any answers except that i can't practise what I preach!
