I wish that was the case with me. This is my 7th year doing a self assessment return. Literally no idea what is going on and can’t even get through to them on the phone

Never this is my 7th year always been issued within 2 weeks I done my return on 6th April and I received a letter 3 days ago saying I need to fill in my tax return but it it said the letter was from the 6th seems that people who got a grant also got a tax refund issued it should be the other way round

Being checked because the computer says 'no'.
So many in the queue to be checked leads to longer timeline to check and issue.

Just phoned them regarding mine. Been selected for security checks. Do not call back within 6 weeks. Great!

i submitted mine on the 4th Jan and been Repayment pending since. Received the repayment questionaire in the post about 8 weeks ago and completed it. Called back twice and was told with a specalist team and dont have a date but there doesnt seem to be anything wrong. Anyone else waiting this long ?

4th January? The earliest date that the return could be completed was 6th April and so, one would very much doubt that.

Understandable mistake  - there are four separate threads ongoing for 2020/21. That hold up is extraordinary- have you enquired as to why there is such a delay? It does seem that you are being fobbed off somewhat.

Nothing at all. Was literally told it had been picked for security checks and not to call back within 6 weeks and that was it
