Good.  Your new tank must have an immersion heater and in my opinion you should insist that it is wired so you can switch it on and off yourself (as I did).  Ordinarily you won't need to do that but if there is ever a problem, as there is at the moment, then it will be a fall-back to give you hot water.

...Update...
We have hot water. Plumber arrived this morning to discover a switch on the pump was not fully on. All sorted now and all fully operational.

You used to have an immersion heater that you could switch on in an emergency.  You still have an immersion heater in your new hot water tank.  I feel, as a point of principle, that you should not have been deprived of the option to switch it on in an emergency.
