Followed the link from MSE web site
, got my discount which was a very good price compared to my previous renewal from RAC.
Their site was easy to follow and my policy is now in place. Thankyou MSE for the link.0 -
The link on the mse website to get 17% off isn't working.0

I just signed up with my 17 year old MX5 and just going out of warranty Skoda Superb.
The process was easy and the policy is very comprehensive. I have never had to be recovered and hope things do not change now!
I had almost decided on Start Rescue and was happy with the premium then I did a final check on MSE here and bagged a £17 discount so I am well happy so far.0 -
Thank you got a £18 discount on my car rescue cover.0

Just tried to get a quote for my low mileage 11 year old car. Refused to quote for it. Fortunately all their competitors did.0

This is my third year with StartRescue, I've never had to call them out but reassured by their 5 Star defaqto rating. I switch off the auto-renewal & simply start a new policy each year as it's always cheaper than the renewal quote. The MSE discount works every time, making it one of the cheapest policies around but still covers everything (& more) over the big named companies.0

We've been with the AA for the past couple of years, and were brilliant, then they really hiked their prices so we looked elsewhere and came across Startrescue, who looked great too. Excellent reviews but being covered in the Channel Islands (which are British) is important to us as we have family there, but we've discovered that they're only covered under their European policy. The AA do include the CIs in their UK policy - so this is a warning to others. We wouldn't expect repatriation from there (as a ferry would always be booked for our return) just mechanical help should we need it.0

Beware the small print!
I took out a three star policy with Startrescue as it was a little cheaper than AA or Green Flag and it was Which recommended with good feedback. But when I actually needed to use the service in October 25, the small print rendered their policy virtually useless.
My car was parked at Manchester airport whilst I was away on a trip. On my return, I found the clutch wouldn't work (pedal flat to the floor!). I reported the problem via the app on my phone. Calls came through quickly from both Startrescue and the recovery subcontractor. I don't know why nobody came to assess the problem or attempt a repair. I was told that my car would need to be recovered to my home address which I was covered for.
BUT because my car was parked in a multistorey carpark, ordinary recovery vehicles could not get to it because they are too big. Specialist equipment would be needed to extract it, and that was not covered in my policy.
If I wanted to receive the assistance I had paid for in my policy, I was told I needed to pay £420 extra for this specialist equipment to get my car out of the car park. Unbelievable.
Fortunately, due to the kindness of strangers, I was able not only to get the car out of the car park but also to temporarily fix the fault and get myself home.
No thanks to Startrescue.
I have since re-read the small print of my policy which does indeed say that the cost of specialist equipment is not covered.
However, it does not explain what specialist equipment is or what circumstances it might be needed in – this is particularly unhelpful. I certainly would not have bought a policy that said you are not covered if you breakdown in a multi-storey carpark.
I wondered if this was an industry standard and checked through the wording on the policies of the more reputable recovery organisations.
Green Flag not only explains what specialist equipment is, it gives a covered carpark as an example of when it might need to be used AND says the cost is included in its policy cover.
So, I shall be using Green Flag from now on - they are only fractionally more expensive but I think money well spent.
