All the mint pots went within an hour of being put out on the pavement. There may be more going out in a few days time but I haven't decided yet. I've got far too many pots but the good news is the lodger at the opposite house has just heard he's going to be staying there, and it's got two south facing lightwells he wants me to fill with plants. And the occupant in the basement flat wants something to look at instead of a grey wall, so she's pleased, too.I'm so daunted by the house insurance I keep doing a bit and then stopping. It's become a cane toad of a frog. I. MUST. FINISH. IT. Today's distraction job - washing the kitchen floor, cleaning the hob and making a batch of pumpkin pasta, which was revolting so I won't be bothering with that again but it dealt with the leftover pumpkin so I don't have to worry about that any more. I really should stop getting recipe ideas from YouTube.Currently filing emails. It's about all I can face right now, knowing that there's a 'rivet rivet' sound coming from the insurance paperwork.

I have had 3 short phone conversations with DH today (he runs out of breath very quickly). We managed to do the last one as a video call, so I can honestly report that he is looking, as well as sounding, a lot better. He didn't have the strength to sit out of bed this afternoon, which was the original plan, but there's definite improvement from 36 hours ago. I'm not expecting him home tomorrow, though! Thank you for all the Flylady GWS wishes: we are both truly grateful for so many people's support xxx
Flying today has consisted of removing dry washing from the airers and radiators and moving it to the appropriate rooms. I started doing the work I had planned for this morning, decided it was too complicated and swapped to a slightly simpler way of doing things, and then changed my mind again and cut it all down to a bare minimum that involves email rather than snailmail, thereby extending the deadline by 2 days - far easier to cope with under the circumstances. I filmed 6 short videos in the morning sunshine (the last one will need re-doing because I left out something that I had meant to say), then after lunch I had to do a delivery run to the hospital, taking DH's CPAP machine (he has sleep apnoea) with a particular style of mask to get the best fit, his very heavy walking stick, some other medical bits, and - by special request - a couple of nice oranges . On the way there I delivered a slightly belated birthday card to a friend, and on the way back I called at the nice local timber merchants for some garden stakes, so that's two more little jobs crossed off my list. I have no plans to work this evening, apart from catching up on emails.
Hope everyone else is keeping well and not too stressed (especially Valli and dancemum). You'll soon have that cane toad under control, HB - (tr)eat it like you would an elephant!

Thanks Narco that sounds good, I will do that next time I go out. I told DH where I was going and said I would message him when I was finished, and gave him an approximate time. I was feeling a bit poorly when I got home so I forgot and he didnt try to find out if I was still in one piece!
So, 7.6 miles walked amongst some amazing scenery, listened to curlews calling the whole way. I was a tiny bit nervous about doing this unknown route on my own so I was proud that I did it. Shattered when I got back to the car and by the time I got home and had a shower I felt awful (after effects of Covid jab yesterday I think). Took paracetamol, went to bed and slept for 3 hours.
Quiet day tomorrow, will catch up on a bit of flying and I need to buy food. Hope DH continues to recover Iona sounds like he is getting well looked after and Pigpen hope the lurgy doesnt spread through the whole family x
Oh and Dizzy minty the lambthat made me chuckle!

Glad Mr Iona is a bit better.
Not much actual flying today.
- did a remote assessment for a mature student from uni, rather mild dyslexia (I'm still reviewing her results) but overwhelmingly ADHD, so I'm exhausted.
- dropped Mr N off for a walk to see how many kites he could see (there's one place a couple of miles from us where we regularly see 20+) while I went to my drum lesson. On the way back I dropped in to the florist to see if they'd got my message about Easter lilies; every year congregation members choose to donate to the cost of lilies in memory of a loved one. Last year we didn't have Easter in church so I didn't do the arrangement, however this year we will be so yippee. They are expensive this year but I still have money in the kitty so have ordered them. Poor florist looked exhausted, her 'girls' i.e. other florists all have children so are furloughed and she's doing all orders and arrangements on her own. Went home through Mr T and got a couple of birthday cards, some mini chocolate eggs, cornflakes and plain chocolate as Mr N fancies choc cornflake 'nests'. Not that I'm complaining.
- started scoring up assessment.
- checked tomorrow's lesson.
- checked seeds in greenhouse which are all coming up well.
- booked a Zoom for BIL's birthday on Saturday.
- new lights for my study arrived courtesy of JL so Mr N can put them up tomorrow, they look good in the box.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.12 -
Iona I'm glad to hear Mr Iona is on the mend. Look after yourself too 😊
It was my last Thursday of not working today. I had garden/ allotment plans. I tidied the greenhouse, and used my noisy garden shredder to shred a trug load of sticks (prunings). 2x WM. I actually hung it out for the 1st time this year! I walked grumpy dog to the vets. He no longer needs meds (yay!) She expressed concern over his lumps, and said she would send a quote for fine needle aspirations. I have said that I don't want to do anything invasive, as he is well in himself & I am monitoring it. I will await her email. She said she didn't think they hurt him.
When I got home the forecast was for rain, so I finished off the shredding, swept up & got the washing in. I didn't get to the allotment 🙁
Tonight I have been trying to get insurance quotes for mine & DH's cars. I hate this job! I haven't had a renewal through yet, so I don't know what I'm comparing it to! It expires on 13/4, so I will call them. HB I feel your pain!
Hugs to those that need them. Its nearly the weekend!! Night night all7 -
Valli said:pigpen said:Valli.. what is this maybe-worry for September? Are they after doing crazy things in schools again? That always looks so overwhelming.. new classroom as well as (not always) new batch of children.. The children get so excited about it though not knowing who they will get with a class shuffle. Dot has one of the NQT's from last year who worked in reception and now has yr 4..biiiig jump and she is a bit overwhelmed I think. I doubt these 2 years were kind to new teachers anyway but her first solo class she has Dot.One conversation went ..
MissH .. What are you feeling right now?
Dot .. I'm feeling that I don't want to do it!
1 guess as to who won that fight over maths!
They don't want you wiping bottoms in reception do they? Do you not have any say in which year group you have? Ours always have the same year 6 teacher, usually an experienced member of staff and it seems to work really well. Squeak is in a yr 5/6 class with a teacher who qualified about 4 years ago but Squeak adores her. She had her last year too so it has been nice for her to be with the same teacher after losing that last term in school. She gets how Squeak works and eeks the best out of her and pushes her just right.Dot had the same teacher twice too yr 1 and yr 3..
I eventually got a bit of my act together today.. I loaded the DW, I've done pack ups for tomorrow. I am having squeak off tomorrow too her temp is soaring and her throat is raw. It is their head teachers last day tomorrow and I wish she was going to say goodbye but it can't be helped.
Tomorrow I have to:-- list a box of ebeast stuff.. I need at least £300 before the end of May.. so into the pit I go! I am thinking of running everything through 7 day auctions on 50p start price and see where we end up.. there will be no fees for listing and it's always fun watching them end.. Starting with 2-3 and 3-4 stuff Twinkle has outgrown because it is accessible. I have a few watchers on the cot bedding so hopefully that will sell and 1 things with bids at the moment.. but I have a holiday to pay for.
- Washing dash.. in out, up down, fold, whizz, whirl and stuff in cupboards.
- OH can change the girls bedding.. all 4 of them... and I might want mine doing too.. I have new sheets.. hmm... I will wash those first.. so I can hang them out and make them smell nice.
- OH can discuss with Moomin where she wants her mirror and attach it securely to the wall.. it is a 'leaner' mirror but I want it attached securely.. small children, cats and a clumsy insta-queen.. it needs to be secure! That is his Saturday job.
- I need to paint the door and fire place.. They won't take long but she has had online classes all week so this will wait until Saturday. But I can get the necessary things out ready.
- Woodshop trip.. I need a piece about 175 cm tall, 4cm wide and 5mm thick.. Do B@M sell wood?? I really want to go but have no real reason too I just want to browse. OH can go to B@Q by himself.. instead
Welcome to the crazy thoughts that trot about in my head.. haha..

Thanks for the elephant-eating suggestion Ionafan, that's exactly what I'm doing, but I rather fear I've been nibbling instead of feasting sporadically. I might change my approach today and see if that works better. I'm reading an excellent article on procrastination and I can see where I'm indulging myself a bit with it so I need to knock that bad habit on the head. So please Mr Ionafan is improving. Some good news to cheer people up who enjoy sea shanties. Belovéd and our delightful neighbour Simon have written a new one and won a competition with it. It's performed by Simon and his girlfriend and we think it's rather good.

Right.. I'm feeling like a total weirdo... Who uses a top sheet under their duvet? Apparently you should only use a top sheet if you use blankets. I have had a top sheet my entire life with blankets, quilts and now a duvet.. OH said he never had one until he came here and he thinks I am weird.
New sheets in the WM .. my old ones had holes in so had to be consigned to dust sheets. I made a boob and only ordered 1 pillow cover instead of 2 and now they are not available on click and collect and I am not paying £3.95 delivery for one pillow cover!Chugged through the emails.Fed the fluffersI have cancelled this weekends food delivery because we cannot afford it.. and maybe next weeks too..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)8
