@Korkyb I'd be interested in seeing a few more photos of your tiles and how you did them. I'm in the unfortunate position of having navy mosaic tiles to paint plus my units.

Photos still making them look a bit lighter & glossy than they actually are but I'm no David Bailey!

    P. S. I also used the same brands tile paint to cover my previously multi coloured tiles & satisfied with that result too.

That is soooo good! Very reassuring.
    Your units couldn't look nicer.
    Thanks Korkyb :-)

The doors after sanding / before painting.
We just used a brush on the curvy knobbly bits then a roller all over to finish. As I mentioned before any brush marks smoothed out as it dried.

    No problemo!

1st pic is of the tiles during the 1st coat & the second I've just taken (10 months after painting the tiles).

I used to love those coloured tiles!!

We cleaned the tiles well then used a brush to get paint into the grooves (? technical term for the grouted valleys between tiles....).

    No need for primer!

We then used a small roller all over to finish. (again the paint seemed to smooth itself during drying).

I don't think the finish is as impressive as the cupboards but for the cost / effort involved I'm not complaining (we did 2 coats of paint).

This is the tile paint we used (other colours available).

Thanks for that @Korkyb I've a special brush thing to go on the drill for cleaning the grout and tiles and various brushes. Did you not key them first?

For me the main thing is getting rid of the Mish mash of colours, hopefully bringing together something nicer until I've the money to do it from scratch.

That Owatrol sounds like interesting stuff, and could be worth doing as well as the usual cleaning and light abrading. Thanks for that.
The varnished emulsion sounds like something I'd have done a few years back...
Yes, it was some years ago.  But it was also the only way I could get the colour I wanted, as I had the paint matched to something I had which just happened to be the perfect colour.

I didn't do any abrading, light or otherwise.  I actually used the Owatrol/emulsion/varnish system twice on the same cabinets.

    I didn't key them 1st.

I cant remember why I didn't... I would have checked that out at the time.

    Perhaps I should have!

Hey ho - seems to be fine.

There would have been a reason why you didn't. Main thing is it worked!
