Samsung Trade In
I recently traded in my old iPhone for a new Samsung phone. It was a promotional offer where they paid me for my old phone and I got the new one at a reduced price.
The promotional offer was subject to an inspection of the condition of my old phone.
I received the new phone and sent my old phone off as per their requirements. I got a message to say they had received it on the 19th of February. Then I heard nothing from them until yesterday (19th March) where they've asked me to pay an additional £100 because they claim the camera on my old phone is faulty.
I maintain that my phone was in perfectly good working order.
According to their terms and conditions, they are supposed to inspect the phone within 10 days:
When I heard nothing from them after 10 days I assumed all was sorted. I had already paid for the remainder of the phone in full and that was that. I've since bought accessories and apps for the phone which would be no good to me if I had to take my old phone back as that was an iPhone so the accessories won't fit and the apps can't be installed on it.
They've now told me that my options are:
1. You can pay the excess (£100) and your trade-in will be complete
2. You can pay the promotional discount (£350) and we will return your trade-in device
3. You can return your new device to Samsung and we will return your trade-in device
I believe that I've followed all their terms and conditions. I maintain that there were no problems with my old phone when I sent it. I've suggested to them that they accept the trade as is. I'll keep the new phone and they've got my trade-in and the balance of money paid in full. They've broken their own terms and conditions as far as I can tell so I don't see why I should have to fork out the extra £100.
I'm just wondering where I stand with this and whether anyone has had a similar interaction?
Many thanks

Thats why iv seen on here people say get evidence of the phone in working order before you send and I seen the people say on the o2 community take photos of your phone you send to o2 recycle as they have said oh you phone don't work you could say to them it's in working order ask for it back and see if camera not worked and claim on the warranty to get it fixed and maybe sell it privately to say cex or something or complain to samsung and say its in working order0

Thanks for the advice. As an update, they have waived the fee so no more to pay. It pays to read the terms and conditions sometimes!1
