Seems you have issues, mainly ones that those of us who have it working correctly don't have.... :D
The Radio 6 "issue" is familiar to me.  But it's the BBC that have chosen to make the prompt to sign-up for a BBC ID so persistent, not Amazon.   It's a shame because the BBC Sounds skill is otherwise very good.

as long as it does what alexa or google home does ?.
What?  Flash green annoyingly every time you're going to get and Amazon delivery, say "I'm sorry, I don't know that one" of tell you for the one millionth !!!!!! time that "did you know, this skill can be linked......" when you just want to listen to Radio 6. Of course I ****ing did, becuase you told me this yesterday, the day before and every single other day I gave you a simple command to play Radio 6.  If you're so smart, you've have remembered this Alexa you !!!!!! halfwit.

And don't get me started on trying to use it as kitchen timer........

It was my attempt at humour.  I have disabled many of the annoying features, but the default setting shouldn't be notifications for everything and backchat.  I.e, factory shipped it should do as it's told and keep it's gob shut.  My timer issue relates to the fact that if you have mutliple devices, the one in the room you're isn't necessarily the one that responds.  Trying to set a timer in the kitchen (Echo) to find the one on the lounge (Fire TV cube) responds.  It's a widely reported issue which Amazon can't be bother to fix,  so I had to resolve by changing the wake word on the one in the lounge to "echo".  Not a perfect fix because while the Fire TV cube can seemingly hear me say "alexa" from a different room, I have to raise my voice when I say "echo" in order to get a response.  Amazon gave no option for custom wake words, and of the three you can use, some gormless twit decided "computer" was a good one.   I guess it's slightly better than "the" but hardly an uncommon word.

I've found minor glitches with most the Amazon tech.  I need to reboot every now and again because the become unresponsive, or say "I'm having trouble right now".  Or manually reconnect to the network again on Fire TV if there's ever an internet outage.  Seems to me these ought to be software fixes that should be easy to roll out.

It was my attempt at humour.  Etc....

I gathered that as was my answer, hence the laughing smiley.
My main ecosystem is Google and I have only one Amazon device and it's an AudioPro product, so I have none of the problems you seem to have. I don't hear from Alexa unless I talk first. Radio 6 music is my go to station and it delivers without any problems on both Google and Amazon.
I guess we should remember that AI is in it's infancy still and is progressively getting stronger, but, it's by no means perfect...........Yet.... ;)

  • Have you looked into a charitable grant for help with cost of one
Charitable grants for ill or disabled people - Money Advice Service
I am not sure what your disability is but you could also contact a charity that raises funds for your particular disability and ask if there is any further help if above is unsuccessful
