I have an ISA and a SIPP with Vanguard but I haven't done very much with them because I'm finding it quite hard to decide on what is the best way to invest my money.
I want to set my ISA up for long term investment and medium-high risk. I would like to be able set it up with a portfolio that can largely be left to manage itself. I will observe for a year or two and as I've learned more, I'll try to take a more active role with investment decisions.
Can anyone advise on what they think the most sensible way to get up-and-running would be? My aim really is just to have an account that outperforms my savings accounts.
Many thanks
Bill

Having made the choice to use Vanguard's platform, you're stuck with their own investments (unless you go elsewhere) - provided you're happy with its more UK-focused allocation than its peers, then their multi-asset LifeStrategy range is a popular 'fire and forget' choice for newbies....1

SIPP you can go for retirement fund 0.24%
ISA - I would recommend 3 option.
1) VLS 0.22% but can be too UK focused2) global all cap 0.23%
3) 85% developed world ex uk 0.14%
5% UK all share 0.06%
10% Emerging market 0.23%
Option 3 is the cheapest OCF but would require little more work of rebalancing portfolio.1 -
Hello @[Deleted User] maybe check out Vanguard Lifestrategy fund for your isa and Retirement fund for your SIPP?

Consider a low cost Global Multi-Asset Fund like

or

When Fidelity looked at which of their investors did best, they found they were the investors that not "tinker" with their investments.1 -

If you want to continue not doing very much , then maybe consider the Vanguard Life Strategy 20/40/60/80/100 that will match your risk tolerance and continue to do not very much for a while.1 -
I have slightly different strategies for my SIPP and ISA
SIPP is mainly a VLS 80 with a couple of smaller funds just to add a bit of flavour. Hardly ever fiddle with it but will look to reduce the risk over the next 10 years. It's more a "forget about it" investment.
ISA is higher risk and more actively managed. Usually have 6-8 funds plus a handful of individual company shares. I will play around with the funds and balance every few months.1
