Unreliable broadband signal upstairs

I'm working from home, the router is downstairs and my computer is upstairs. The signal keeps dropping out. Is there a way of fixing this?
I've got a TP Link but that doesn't make much difference.
What else could I try?

The TP link is a powerline adaptor but this is an old house with old wiring.
I'll try turning the router on its axis.
How do I change the wifi channel?0 -
The most reliable fix is to run an ethernet cable from the router it will also generally give you the fastest connection.
As JJ-E says, what is this TP-Link thingy that you've got. I've uses both wifi extenders and powerline adapters. Both have worked, the powerline provides service to my shed about 10 metres away from the house.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
