Unreliable broadband signal upstairs

Options
I'm working from home, the router is downstairs and my computer is upstairs. The signal keeps dropping out. Is there a way of fixing this?
I've got a TP Link but that doesn't make much difference.
What else could I try?

The TP link is a powerline adaptor but this is an old house with old wiring.
I'll try turning the router on its axis.
How do I change the wifi channel?

The most reliable fix is to run an ethernet cable from the router it will also generally give you the fastest connection.

As JJ-E says, what is this TP-Link thingy that you've got. I've uses both wifi extenders and powerline adapters. Both have worked, the powerline provides service to my shed about 10 metres away from the house.
