In theory you could open a cash isa today with any other provider and pay £10,000 into it on Monday - and then transfer it out to NW on Tuesday!Bobblehat said:OH has £10K in a PO saver that is about to drop to 0.01% ..... she has an existing NW current account and has no existing ISA's. Could she open an EA ISA now with say Charter (or another) with the £10K, let that fully open, then apply for this NW ISA using the Charter (or another) ISA as the transfer in?
Have I missed something, or could timing be a problem. Even if my plan doesn't work, she will need to move the £10K from the PO anyway, so it could sit in the ISA until something better came up? All comments/suggestions welcome!
Of course in most cases unless you are an existing customer the account opening process can take a bit longer given the checs needed to open an account - unless you visit a branch (if possible) to open it
I would expect the NW offer to remain open for a bit yet - but what you suggest is possible. But just make sure you pick a provider where you can request the online transfer to NW - almost all major providers are but there are a few exceptions (e.g. Saffron BS or Principality) and many smaller ones aren't. You can do transfers from others but its more hassle as you have to print a form and post it.

Yes - but not on Nationwide's list of providers you can request transfers from online via their website2010 said:

You would have to request a transfer pack by post or get one from a branch, fill it in and post it back to do a transfer from Charter. Not an issue normally but if time is of the essence and all you are doing is opening another isa with £10k so you can transfer it immediately to Nationwide to get the bonus why complicate things when you could do it online in 5 minutes?.
So if this is the case - open an instant access isa for £10k with one of the 50 or so providers on the NW online transfer list.0 -
Well I finally managed to open the ISA, opted for the monthly interest option, when I logged on noticed it stated next interest payment date 31st August? Also the interest to be paid to some completely unknown account number.Spoke to someone via their chat message and she couldn't sort it and had to either ring or email them.So opted for the email route and got a reply quite quickly, the next interest date is an error as others have contacted them about it.The unknown account number is their internal number for my instant access account which has a different number to that.??Why can i not just see my actual account number, all very strange, I really wanted to have the interest paid to our current account with another bank which is already my nominated account for the NW instant savings account, when i asked how to do this i was told would have to visit a branch..!Surely you would think as I already have nominated bank account with them they should be able to use this for the ISA interest..0

Can you transfer part of existing isa ? I have a fixed rate Virgin exclusive isa at 1% that ends in October but there's a 60 day interest penalty on the amount of a withdrawal so I'm debating if it's worth moving £10k to get the £50 bonus. It's all a lot of scratching in the sand for very little at the end of the day, too much time on my hands in lockdown otherwise I probably wouldn't contemplate it!

Yes, you fill it out saying you want to move part of a previous years subscription and then enter the amount you want to transfer on the form.

When I look at comparison sites (moneyfacts, moneysupermarket - since yesterday) I cannot see this ISA listed anywhere. However, it still appears on Nationwide's website. Any idea why this might be?

Could be because it's exclusive to existing customer's. I know some sites don't always show all accounts.0

Thanks but can't be/ isn't that because it was on there until two days ago. Also noticed other providers' accounts that were on there up until two days ago have also vanished, even though they exist on provider websites.
So there is a bit of a mystery here.

My guess is they are preparing to take it off sale either on a specific day re the tax year or based on volume of deposits.
