Welcome @Owleyes00, lots of recipes in the first 2 pages for using up existing stock, have you made an inventory of existing stock, freezer especially, build your meals around what you have, take photos before shopping of inside your fridge, we are all guilty of buying something and finding 2 or 3 more already in stock, dry goods/cans can be photo too, meal plan too.Owleyes00 said:Hi! I posted a question about reducing my weekly shop in another thread and it was recommended I join here.
I live just my partner and me and I am trying to get my food shop to around £50/week.Do I need it or just want it.5 -
One more tip @Owleyes00 ... and take a list with the option of substituting things on offer, but not adding things not on it.pamsdish said:

£50 a week is our average too, but it took me a few years to get there. We won't go into my bad habits but I have a good store cupboard and I have my preferred brands that I indulge in when they are on offer.
Sadly Ryvita have gone up from (the original and dark rye at) £1 a packet through £1.25 to £1.60. We do like them, but not enough to pay that price so own-brand regular have been tried at 75p and while a slightly different texture and maybe four fewer crackers in a packet, they will do. DH eats them with cheese (late night snacker - his "reward" for doing the dishwasher) and I have two when I have boiled eggs for breakfastSave £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £2870.61 so far, against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2026 I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026 - currently £568.34 and most of my March purchasing made
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the grow your own in 2026 discussion thread

I am definitely guilty of buying tins of tomatoes, packets of pasta, bottles of soy sauce when there are definitely some lurking at the back of the cupboard!
I’m committed to my shop for this week (£43 although that doesn’t include our plans to eat out for lunch Saturday and we are having a BBQ with friends Friday so we are a meal down there too) but I will definitely look at the recipes at the start ready for next week’s shop!6 -
Sorry Joe Denise - just catching up.joedenise said:@Finstickle - what's the quality of Musclefoods like? I've had a few ads come up on Faceb**k a while back and wondered whether it was worthwhile!
Really good quality, I always get steak which is how I measure things and really like it. Chicken breasts are huge and not water filled.
Would definitely recommend!March Grocery Challenge £343/£350

Err... That's why I buy mine in the convenient shrink-wrapped pack of 24, when they go on sale at 25p a can, @Finstickle .Finstickle said:@Owleyes00

Seriously, we average 6-8 tins a month. I start looking for more tinned tomatoes after I've started the bottom slab. (You get two trays of 12 tins in a shrink-wrapped pack). That usually gives me enough time for MrT to put them back on sale before I'm desperate for more. (It happens every 3-4 months.)

Hi. I don't know if anyone uses M0rri3sons for online delivery or click and collect? If so there's a voucher code VOU9388767 which you can use to get £12 off a £60 order. It says "selected accounts" but it worked on the order I have placed for Saturday. I think it is only valid this week and some items are excluded such as alcohol. Anyway, it is a 20% saving if it of use to anyone 😃8
