Standing water in bath tub near drain!?

Take a torch with a narrow beam and shine it along the surface of the bath to see if the enamel is perfectly flat and not has any sort of defamation or dip that is causing it to hold onto the water near the plug.1

The accuracy on your spirit level should be in the range of +/- 0.5mm per metre, so assuming you are very close to level, I would think you are only looking at raising the head end by 1 or 2mm at most, which should be invisible to the naked eye and easily within normal range of your silicon bead. It might even be within the "give" in the existing bead and be doable without doing anything more than removing the end panel.1
