PCP 2 years in car faulty

We do use taxis, hence I know the cost . My background is finance do I always assess true cost so I factored in cost of continuing to keep two cars on the road - tax, insurance, servicing etc. plus other pros and cons a few years ago as at time hubby also had two motorbikes. We kept two cars as my daughter used to share my car as 3 cars would have been excessive especially as my work was under 3 miles away car sat in car park all day so often I walked or had lift if daughter using car. Then when she went to uni we discussed trading in hubby's car (BMW) for estate but decided we'd hire people carrier /can for moving in / out of uni days as loved BMW for our drives! Then all change . Drugged up driver drive into back of daughter and while car fixed decided time to go so traded it in and bought daughter a new car so she built up her insurance no claims etc instead of names driver while we decided whether to get me a new car . A few days later hubby had serious accident and stopped thinking about! He spent months in hospital so I had full use of his car. Then much excitement he could come home for the weekend so I went to pick him up and he couldn't get in his car ! He had back & neck braces on but he was determined to get in so have a lot of manoeuvring seats etc he made it ! I had started googling local hire cars who could supply me a more accessible car there and then. Took him back in daughters car as higher up than his M sport so a bit easier to get in. I went to buy a new car that week as I didn't need more stress in my life and he would be having regular weekend visits! He sold his car as he knew it no longer practical and he can no longer ride his motorbikes too! I was still working so we thought we'd see how it went before he bought another car as not a huge need and we had daughter living back home with car and we utilise taxis - buses useless where I live as subsidised route so short days and only a few buses unless we walk 20 minutes to bus stop - not practical for hubby. What o never factored into risk was new car being in garage for extended period without courtesy car! My hubby just remembered he has 4 dental appointments in next two weeks for a treatment that's being done in stages! Time to synchronise calendar with daughter to borrow her car!Aylesbury_Duck Taxis might seem pricey at £10 for 3.5miles but if it's cheaper and more convenient than a short term hire, it's a good deal. The alternative is to sign up to a car club type scheme if there's one locally.
On a broader note, we all need to wean ourselves off multiple car ownership if we want less congestion, better air quality, fewer cars littered on roads, verges, pavements, etc. I know many households with two or three cars when they could cope perfectly well with one or two cars respectively with a bit of organisation, the occasional use of public transport or a shared car and just being a bit more sensible about trips, my own household included.

Today told gearbox removed Friday & flywheel at end of life so they've changed it. Part cost over £600! Road testing it today to see if its cured the idling vibration

Glad to see the OP got their car back.Hunyani_Flight_825 said:
the car is still under manufacturers warranty, I would expect the dealer to be jumping through hoops to keep the customer happy. OP take this one on the chin but if this doesn't sort it you want to be talking to the finance company.
How many cars the OP has or needs is irrelevant. I'm sure if OP could work with one then they wouldn't be too worried about a courtesy car.
As to the above. Dealers get next to nothing for warranty work, so hoop jumping is often out of the question. Manufactures have it in the T/C that they do not supply a car for any warranty work.
This from KIa, other manufactures will do the same.Limited liability
Under this warranty, Kia are only liable for the repair or replacement of original parts by an authorised Kia dealer that are defective in material or workmanship. Kia are not liable for any costs that may incur getting to a dealer, supplying a replacement car or as a result of being without the car during warranty repairs.
