PCP 2 years in car faulty

So three journeys - you, husband and daughter but only one car at present.
With a courtesy car that would only cover two journeys so there would still be a problem.0 -
Most Warranties specifically exclude a loan car while any work is undertaken. If a dealer decides to provide one, that is down to them. At the moment most of the cars that would have been avaiable are otherwise engaged due to staff working from home.Life in the slow lane1

the car is still under manufacturers warranty, I would expect the dealer to be jumping through hoops to keep the customer happy. OP take this one on the chin but if this doesn't sort it you want to be talking to the finance company.born_again said:Most Warranties specifically exclude a loan car while any work is undertaken. How many cars the OP has or needs is irrelevant. I'm sure if OP could work with one then they wouldn't be too worried about a courtesy car.1 -
The number of cars is very relevant. If the OP wants to exercise their consumer rights because they believe the remedy is taking too long they must show that it's causing a significant inconvenience, if, for example, they had other cars available to them then it would be difficult to show that it was such an inconvenience.Hunyani_Flight_825 said:

If they still failed to find cause of issue by end of this week then I will speak to finance company. Today I needed food shopping as no delivery slots until Tuesday - my husband on shielding list so we get priority! As we are currently 4 adults in the house being of essentials couldn't wait !! My daughter using her car today as she was at DIY shopping , decorating at her new house - her and partner live with us till their house finished. Her partner had to take his father for his jab (not local) but luckily he offered me use of his car late this afternoon! Else I would have had to wait till about 9pm for daughter to get home. Her partners car not an option ti borrow as he's been back in office full time for months plus he provides care for his parents/grandparents as his father unable to drive for time being following brain surgery!neilmcl said:

Can you get a hire car through your insurance0

Surely these rare occasions are where taxis are useful? Could none of those trips have been done by taxi, as a one-off?

I said in previous post when we are carless my one is local and can do taxi! Hubby would cost a fortune based on City Centre to my house (approx 3.5 miles) usually £10 with tip ! My hubby's trip to hospital is just over an hours drive each way !neilmcl said:
Why would their car insurance provide a hire car when there's no claim?photome said:Can you get a hire car through your insurance

Courtesy cars are only offered by some garages and will be on an availability-only basis, unless you're prepared to pay for some sort of insurance that provides for one if/when your car needs work. Taxis might seem pricey at £10 for 3.5miles but if it's cheaper and more convenient than a short term hire, it's a good deal. The alternative is to sign up to a car club type scheme if there's one locally.
On a broader note, we all need to wean ourselves off multiple car ownership if we want less congestion, better air quality, fewer cars littered on roads, verges, pavements, etc. I know many households with two or three cars when they could cope perfectly well with one or two cars respectively with a bit of organisation, the occasional use of public transport or a shared car and just being a bit more sensible about trips, my own household included.
