Octopus Agile

It's available for anyone who has a fully functioning electricity smart meter that Octopus are able to get 30 minute readings from, as far as I know.
It's a TOU (time of use) tariff so you need to be prepared to run the greedy appliances when the cheapest times are, that might mean the washer/dryer/dishwasher at 2.30am.
People who have solar/batteries choose Agile as they can fill up the battery when (if) the electric price is cheapest.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Agile is available for electricity only no other caveats. However the new version they have recently released isn't all that attractive as yet.(let's wait for the Ofgem price cap announcement)MarcoM said:Hi, is this tariff available only for those on solar panels?
I wrote to octopus and I got some not so clear response.
thanks
You cannot get the previous version capped at 35p kWh now.1 -
thanks. i am on the old Avro october 2021 rate.Mstty said:

I am assuming this will expire come October....
Would I then move on their variable rate? Should I stay on said variable rate in your opition?0 -
Let's wait for the announcement by Ofgem on 26th August.MarcoM said:

Octopus are not know for their great fixed rates however a good product is Octopus go. In theory you should have an EV Electric Vehicle but many on this tariff don't. If you were planning on getting an EV this would be a very good tariff to be on.

This is the response I got from octopus when I asked if I could go on their rate after the installation of my smart meters, gas and electrics:Mstty said:

Our ''Agile tariff'' is for export only. The Agile Outgoing tariff rate ranges from 4p (outside peak hours) to around 12p/kWh at peak (4-7pm), compared to a flat 7.5p rate on the Fixed Outgoing tariff. Like our Agile consumption tariff, it rewards customers who use their energy outside peak times. As we are paying you for the excess electricity that you are not using, if there's a lot of this when other customers need it, we pay you more for it. This tariff works best if you have battery storage built into your solar system, so you can choose when you're exporting.
If you're not too sure, our FAQs blog about Outgoing might be able to help: https://octopus.energy/blog/outgoing/

Hmmmm, so they thought you were asking about Agile Outgoing, which is for solar export.
I'd try again if you really think you'd like Agile supply but as mentioned above, the rate is mostly at 55p now, it's expensive compared to SVT and higher than the expected Oct cap rate.
I'd recommend staying on Flexible at least until price caps are announced.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

ScoobyZ said:Woohoo, just checked with them on twitter and as I began on 17th I get the 35p cap. Just accepted and checked the app and it is 35p cap.I'm in kinda the same boat, signed up the 14th but this has not been sorted yet as my meter is not supplying them readings (works fine with n3rgy, they are aware of the issue). Is it fixed for you from the moment you have swapped today, or from the date of your initial signup which I assume means you would be backdated at 35p for the energy you used until you swapped?0

Fixed deals now been offered at 75p unit for electric so the new Agile has a 20p unit advantage now over those deals..1
