I switched to Agile and glad I did it in time, I didnt switch to tracker V3 as I felt it wasnt good enough value, but then today changed my mind having noticed gas tracker very frequently shifts down to lower rates.  However it is now too late for v3, but given most of my bill is electric and I dont use central heating its not a too bad situation.

Friend of mine tried to get v3 today and she begged, but they wouldnt budge, I guess the staff have been told to be hard on it.

Puzzling why a run of much higher rates would cause you to change your mind for that reason being as original conclusion you came to rates were lower combined with a lower maximum kWh product cap than you have now signed up to.

Well i dont use much gas so for me I seen the SC wasnt lower either from the current SC or the new predicted SC, and I dont use more gas in winter vs summer, its low all year round.  However today I felt I got it wrong so was going to go on it.

The maths were quite different to agile which was a clear no brainer, under half price SC and a cap which in percentage terms was much closer to the current SVR.  The SVR for gas will need to go up at least 55% to hit the v3 cap.  My maths had me breaking even around Jan-March based on my usage and maybe in profit by the end of the year, although for someone on typical heavy gas usage over winter it was definitely a good deal.

Its not a huge problem either way unless gas SC goes through the roof as the SC is most of my gas bill.  My most recent gas bill was £13.50, of which £8 of it was SC.

What is the SC for v4? did it go up?  As I have only seen the unit rates quoted.

Interesting I just checked on the FAQ page, and on the website it states 25.9p, instead of the 27p on v3.
    "

    East Midlands

    • Electricity standing charge: 42.36p per day
    • Electricity unit charge: (W * 1.1892) + 7.098 p per kWh
    • Gas standing charge: 25.92p per day
    • Gas unit charge: (W * 0.03615) + 1.114 p per kWh"

To answer your question on the fluctuating rates, the answer is I didnt previously check the tracker data at all, I assumed was like agile mostly at the cap, but then checked it today to see it was actually fluctuating a lot more, plus the more recent predictions of a bigger SVR increase is what tipped me to wanting it.

If the new SVR does come with a bigger SC I am going to feel like the complete fool, but I suppose v4 will be a way out if that happens.

I assume that 25.92p is before VAT?

    Difference is VAT.

    From the FAQ:

Use the formula above to calculate prices excluding VAT .
