Very strange. Though maybe they use less checks on a gift voucher as they expect it will likely be sent to a different address. Not a good idea IMO, but their choice I guess.Really how much extra spending do they get by not asking for the full card number again to check, not many I bet, people may not have all cards to hand, but they can always add the one they do!Though if you were logged in previously and it was from the same IP range maybe that's enough checks for them.2 -
Barclaycard have now refunded the £99.99 to my account and agreed to cancel the card at my request. So hopefully that is the end of my problem apart from the fact I still do not know how someone was able to put the charge on my card.Thank you all and stay safe.0

Why doesn't your wife check her own bills? I wouldn't let my husband "check my bills" and if he decided wanted to, I'd see that as controlling behaviour...niktheguru said:
My wife had about 4 fraudulent amazon transactions on her amex in the last year. Luckily I check her bills, as all our amazon shopping goes through my card which is a different account. Amex were excellent, refunded the money straight away and there were no issues.born_again said:
Are they?FaceHead said:Amazon is a real hotspot for card fraud as they don't require the CVV. A fraudster who has managed to get hold of a picture of one side of the card can use it on Amazon but no where else.
As someone who deals with card fraud. Amazon are a company we very rarely see fraud to. As someone else posted, the vast majority of cases are contested by Amazon and turn out to be a family member, who's card has expired. So it then defaults to the next card on their list.2 -
Maybe she doesn't have anything to conceal, trusts him & finds it boring.Emmia said:

not necessarily. I check all hubby's bills, open his mail and arrange all his appointments. If I didn't nothing would get paid or done.Emmia said:

Well fingers crossed. BC will now claim the money back from Amazon as fraud. It is then down to Amazon to prove it was not. If they feel it was genuine, then they will furnish BC with the details used.teamgb said:Barclaycard have now refunded the £99.99 to my account and agreed to cancel the card at my request. That's the update I was waiting to hear - sounds like a fair result - it might be one of those 'you'll never knows' but at least it's resolved from your end.teamgb said:Barclaycard have now refunded the £99.99 to my account and agreed to cancel the card at my request.
