£99.99 Amazon charge on Barclaycard.

I have a Barclaycard which I used for a Balance Transfer in 2019 and paid off in full in October 2020. I have never used this card for purchases and it was locked in my desk.
Today I logged into the account after getting a text payment reminder and found a transaction for £99.99 to Amazon UK which I have no knowledge of. I have disputed this with BC.
Anyone come across this before.

Leave it to Barclaycard to sort as fraud and get them to cancel the card and send you a replacement.
  • Will need to be disputed as fraud with Amazon as well though as card payments can be renewed on new cards

If you have an amazon account then check it hasn't been hacked, if no £99.99 purchase shows up on your account then I'd complain to the card issuer. If there is an order and it went to another address and it wasn't you then I'd complain to amazon.

If it came to your address then it might be someone who lives with you, at that point it can get awkward.

Nothing on my amazon account. I have not used it since last year. I have never used this card to make a purchase, only used for balance transfer.

If the card was locked in a drawer, then nothing to worry about.  Barclaycard will sort this out for yourself.

The only fraudulent transactions I've ever had on any of my cards were to Amazon. The card company sent me a form to sign to confirm that I didn't authorise the transactions, and the money was refunded to my account straight away. No hassle at all. That was many years ago - it's probably all online these days, with no need to sign anything.

Amazon is a real hotspot for card fraud as they don't require the CVV. A fraudster who has managed to get hold of a picture of one side of the card can use it on Amazon but no where else.

Well if you have never used your card there & it is not stored. Then it has nothing to do with your amazon account.
