Universal Credit LCWRA and ESA Support Group

  • Finally seem to have sorted this. Called the Jobcentre/ESA again this morning, explained the situation again and the lady I spoke to was very helpful. She said that they have a UC liaison team that the Jobcentre can speak to about this sort of thing and put me on hold for a bit while she spoke to them, then came back to say that they had confirmed the LCWRA outcome and she would arrange a same day payment for my partners ESA. She also updated my partners record so she no longer needs to send fit notes. Why the person I spoke to on Wednesday couldn't have done this I have no idea? Also, why didn't the UC liaison team pass the result on to the Jobcentre when it was sent to us on 13th February? Never mind.

She did say that there is currently a delay uploading the Work Capability Assessment results at the Jobcentre and they're taking about 6 weeks to be registered. So if anyone finds themselves in the same position asking the Jobcentre to speak to the UC Liaison team seems to be the thing to do.

Your perseverance appears to have paid off. It really shouldn’t be that hard.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

It really shouldn't be. A large part of my partners issues are mental health and she wouldn't have been able to chase like I have as she struggles interacting with strangers. The first knockback would have probably been as far as she got, if she even managed to make that first phone call. I worry how people who haven't got anyone to help would manage if a similar thing happened.

Something I was told when I phoned today that may be pertinent: some people who work on ESA can access both ESA and UC systems, and some can't.  However despite that, bizarrely they do still need UC to send info over in order to be able to update/correct a claim.

(When I first phoned ESA just after claiming in September, they did check with UC but it turns out they somehow managed to put down that I was in the WRAG, not Support Group.  I guess I'll find out soon enough whether it has definitely been updated or not!)
