Your boss needs something to allow him to pay SSP. You should have confirmation from Test and Trace that you had to self isolate.
That is what your employer needs to confirm SSP is payable.0 -
Yeah my dad ain’t speaking to test and trace, he’s that guy!! Plus I’m the only person he’d had contact with. It’s ok though I have a pic of the message he got from NHS.0

I imagine it restricts how often you can visit him if you have to travel 100 miles each time. Sorry to hear he has tested positive for COVID, I hope he gets better soon. If he doesn't go out and you are the only person who visits him then, yes, it's likely that you were asymptomatic and passed the virus onto him.
SSP sounds the correct payment as you are not able to be called into work during the self-isolation period.
Unfortunately due to a messy separation and divorce from my mum (this is the second time they have divorced!!) he doesnt really speak with my other brothers and his sisters are all shielding themselves and are in bubbles with the sons/daughters. I have been doing this 244 mile round trip pretty much every weekend for almost a year now.
I don't know what your Dad's financial situation is, but would it not be in his interests to offer to pay you a little compensation for at least your petrol money doing all this visiting, especially if he won't give you the evidence you need to be able to get paid SSP.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
None of this is about money, I don’t need the money from this job, I have other income streams. The £30pw I spend on fuel to see my dad is completely irrelevant to me.He gave me the evidence I need. I have a photo of the positive test text message he got from NHS.0

BigMac79 said:Other than a minor disagreement this morning I am due back on Wednesday.I counted Saturday as day 1 of isolation as my dad started with a bit of a cough on Friday evening. So that makes today day 10. My plan was to get tested tomorrow morning myself then drive home and return to work Wednesday. But he is adamant I should be in today.3
