EE Price Hike

Hello all,
Has anyone else had a text from EE about the price increase they are applying from 31st March?
I only started my contract in Feb, so I am getting an increase barely 2 months into my contract, but not only that, it's huge! They are increasing the price by CPI + 3.9%, which means a total 4.5% increase.
Apart from the fact that O think any increase within the first 12 months should be illegal (or at least the first 6), my understanding was that an increase can't exceed RPI. Has anyone had this and challenged it? This sounds like a scenario which would enable early exit from the contract given that it causes 'material detriment'.
Anyone got any thoughts/ideas?

(my understanding was that an increase can't exceed RPI. ) Who told you that ???
You took out a contract with the agreed March prices rise of cpi + 3.9% . That was on every contract and all adverts .
    First page i googled .
    • *The monthly price shown and all out of bundle charges and add-ons will increase from March every year by the Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in January that year plus 3.9%.

  • BT Mobile (EE) are increasing theirs by the same. As JJ writes, it's in the contract.
Mine's being "hiked" by an eyewatering 6p/month!

It's in the terms you must have agreed to Annual RPI price increases terms and conditions | Help | EE
  • I am with EE many years but since feb EE removed itemised billing without advising me prior. They said Ofcom agreed itemiseed billing could be charged for even though not declared as suchj @ start of contract eg mid term prices hike %. After compaint  theyu offered £30 rebate & now agreed free itemised billing to end of contract.
How can they get away with this?
In any contract if supplier changes terms ; buyer can object & have time to seek elsewhere.
anyone any ideas? Charging me £2 monthis meaningl:ess but think of 20millioon x £2
I will press this with ofcom but publicity will help

It’s all over the EE website and would have been in the terms and conditions you agreed to. Sometimes it’s a case of taking responsibility for your own mistakes.

There are at least two separate notifications on the first page in the Shop section of the EE website:

    ====
  • Price increase every March/april was stated & agreed
No mention of Itemised billing anywhere. Did anyone ever get letter statying Itemisied billing will become chargeable?

Yep I knew about it Feb 2019 when I upgraded I got hit by the price increase last year I'd have been better off using the 2 week cool off then waited
  • You're absolutely right, it is in the T&Cs and I am at fault for not checking. Sites like Which have articles which talk about acceptable and enforceable price increases being linked to RPI and examples of increases of 4% meaning that people can leave their contracts. (I am not looking to leave, I just didn't want to have a £3.30 increase). So to be honest, thinking those were still the rules, I didn't even think to look. I've agreed to it, so I have to live with it, but I have to say, it's a big increase and I doubt I'll stay with EE when I next upgrade.

How expensive is your contract to get a £3.30 increase! Sounds like you need to look for a better deal anyway...

I wonder what the date is on those Which articles? A few years ago networks tried above RPI increases and people could leave early, then networks got wise to it and just added it in the contract knowing most won't read it.
