Did you get a "crime report" number from the police ?Daffodil78 said:UPDATE: I contacted the police and their advice was to write to the parking charge company to say it's not our vehicle and state the reasons why and that we won't be paying it and add that we've never been to that location and are not intending to go there.
He also said to inform the DVLA so they can put a note on that registration in case in comes up in a similar PNC search.
Hope this helps anyone else who comes across a similar problem. The policeman said it is pretty common unfortunately. They don't take any action as a police force on this type of crime.
Why do you ask?
FWIW
They didn't take down the details of the vehicle. Just my name and address etc at the start of the call. Like I said, they don't take any action in these circumstances. It seemed to be a geographical decision more than anything. I don't live anywhere near where the photograph was taken so my local police force weren't interested. The photograph was taken at a service station and so they are unlikely to find the owner of the vehicle with the false plates as they could be anywhere in the country. Not much point in generating a crime number as it's not needed for anything.

I am grateful for the help received and I have added as much info as possible to help anyone who finds this thread in the future, but some of the comments seem to serve no purpose other than to question my integrity, accuracy and knowledge. That's not particularly helpful to anyone and just makes you look like a bit of a tit with a keyboard.
I don't plan to add anything further to this thread.

Not even if your appeal is rejected or you get a court claim against you within the next six years?
Please do come back if you need any further help.
We deal with about a hundred requests for help every day of the year, so you may get some abrupt questions or replies that may not make sense to you, but it is all part of the necessary investigation that we need to do in order to find chinks in the scammer's armour.
The questions are designed to ascertain the facts, and in many cases to make posters think for themselves and/or do their own research so they can help themselves.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Surely there is nothing wrong with that if it it a fact. Its purpose is to inform you that you are telling us things which are not accurate and that you need to do more research. These cases are won by a full knowledge of the subject. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.3 -
I asked because if this went to court, you can show a judge that it was reported and thereby lay doubt on the claim. We know that the police will not take action, that is not the pointDaffodil78 said:

While I've not commented on your thread so far, I have followed it very closely. From recollection I could not recall any post that came remotely close to that which you describe, such that I have re-read all the inputs and I'm seriously struggling to find one. Can you reference the ones with which you are taking issue, please?Daffodil78 said:I am grateful for the help received and I have added as much info as possible to help anyone who finds this thread in the future, but some of the comments seem to serve no purpose other than to question my integrity, accuracy and knowledge. I don't plan to add anything further to this thread. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I hardly think @MothballsWallet trying to pick up on a potential l spelling error counts as “telling us something which is not accurate”.D_P_Dance said:Surely there is nothing wrong with that if it it a fact. Go give yourselves a hearty ol’ clap.0 -
I dont see that as manhood measuring.
Its a written medium so being careful on wording, especially acronyms, is useful
Your post absolutely added nothing.
OP - if you get a claim form please head on back.3 -
