Wise (aka TransferWise) now offer a Virtual Visa Card

Wise (TransferWise rebranded) now offer the ability to add a Virtual Visa card to complement their physical Mastercard.  I just spotted this in the app, have not seen it mentioned anywhere - and I know some folks here have interest in such things.  You can generate a new one if you feel it has been compromised.  It can also be added to Google Pay.

Ah, thanks for that.   I did read about the virtual Visa elsewhere but couldn't find out how to generate, easy in the app - easy on the web site also, now I have one :smirk:

The physical Mastercard is free to get (usually £5) at present, and looks quite useful if we are ever allowed to travel again.

    Thanks, I didn't notice it.
Btw, I'm wondering what is the meaning of Platinum debit card? That's what I have on my new physical Wise card.

Do you know if this only for existing customers? Signed up and can't see a free card offer..

My card expires next month. I received a replacement a couple of weeks ago.  It's bright green.  The only notable difference is that the old card is labelled 'debit' and the new card is labelled 'platinum debit'.  I feel so special.

Did you have to pay for a replacement?  There are stories about them charging unless the card is used in the month before renewal.

I received an email a few weeks ago saying my old card would expire in 60 days and an invitation to order a replacement.  I wasn't charged a fee for it.

I hadn't used the card since December 2019.
