Dog breeder mis-sold us puppy

Designer cross breeds are not KC registered but sell for more than KC registered pure bred dogs.
Dogs sell for the price the buyer will pay for them whether KC registered or not. You may not pay as much for a non registered pup but others will do.
we had a litter of puppies at the same time
Is this the crux of the matter. You need a KC registered dog.

Report them to the website they are advertising. If it is one of the good dog selling sites & not gumetree or such.BoBoDobie said:I want a partial refund I suppose to the value of what you’d pay for a non kc registered puppy. We paid the going rate for a kc puppy which he is not. The fact they are still advertising as ‘kc’ registered is outrageous and shows how unscrupulous they are.
TBH. KC registered means very little. You get a certificate & can pay for the family history with all the fancy dog names on, which will sit hidden away.
Just enjoy the dog for what it is. A new member of the family that will show unbridled love to you, all for providing it with a loving home.Life in the slow lane2 -
Pointless going to SCC, you paid £x for a puppy and received the puppy you wanted. The fact it didn't come with some fancy paperwork won't affect it one iota. How do you put a price on paperwork? There is no list price for different breeds and how much extra KC registration would be.
Please forget the bad experience, badmouth the breeder however and wherever you can, but most importantly enjoy your new little friend. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1 -
I'm not sure how to take your comments but I hope your disgust isn't aimed at meAbbafan1972 said:I feel really disgusted reading things like this when animals are treated like something from Currys that can be returned Willy nilly. Rant over.Adopt, don’t shop.
Adopting is worthwhile but not appropriate for everyone and not appropriate for me on this occasion. The last dog I had I got as a grown male and he came with a host of 'qwerks' that I could never train out of him. Nowadays I have a child, other dogs and a 20 year old cat to consider so I wanted a puppy that could grow with us a family. I did look into the breed rescue a couple of years ago and they have a waiting list as long as your arm which is great but the fact I worked went against me so chances are I'd never have been chosen.

Just curious if the puppy you were bought as a gift is the same breed as the litter of pups you 'had at the same time'.

I agree its great if you can adopt an unwanted pet but for reasons I've mentioned earlier it wasn't something I felt comfortable with doing this time.IvanOpinion said:

Last year we were looking for a new dog (we had lost our 18 year old terrier at the end of 2019 and our 10 year old dog was not coping well). We have always had a rule that our existing dog would pick its new 'pal' (within reason) so we went off to a rehoming shelter.
Our dog picked a 2 year old 'designer' dog bred by a well known (apparently) specialist breeder, but he came with a bit of baggage, a 3 year old pedigree miniature terrier (again from a well respected breeder). The original owner had paid over £3000 for these two dogs - to then go on and neglect and abuse them. We realised that the two could not be separated, so we chose to adopt both.
The shelter had all the paperwork for both dogs ... as I paid over the nominal fee for adopting the dogs (£40 per dog) I told the shelter to burn the paperwork, I didn't want it and I didn't take it - that is not why we adopt.1 -
Why is this the crux of matter?? I wanted what we’d paid for.sheramber said:Designer cross breeds are not KC registered but sell for more than KC registered pure bred dogs.

You're entitled to a refund. You're not entitled to a partial refund and to keep the dog unfortunately. You need to decide if you're so outraged you're going to make sure you get your money back or if it's more important to keep your puppy and move on.1

Nothing to decide on that score, as stated in my original post there is no way the dog is going anywhere. I wasn’t sure how the law worked though in terms of the false advertising and being mid-sold something. If you’re saying its clear in terms of being cut and dried it would be a case of retuning the dog for a full refund that’s what I came on here to find out. I wasn’t sure if there’s be any middle ground in terms of partial refund to bring the price more into line with what non kc registered puppies go for.Diamandis said:You're entitled to a refund. Your other half should have looked at the paperwork before parting with the money if that's what's important to you.BoBoDobie said:
