It hasn't actually failed -  just cosmetic flaking.

Some replies are thinking this is a bath lift - it's a stair chair lift.
Maybe you should change your thread title then.
    It's not Robin9's thread.

Maybe he's OP's partner, friend or relative?  Or just telepathic.

I am not sure if this is the same person but there is a poster on LegalBeagles who has exactly the same issue.

Irrespective of what it is (and I thought it was a stairlift made by someone called Bath until someone mentioned a bath hoist!) the OP's dates don't make sense, do they?

Bought October 2019, not used until it was needed at end of December (2019 or 2020?), and only used about 30 times?

I am guessing the OP bought it in October 2020, didn't use it 'til end of December 2020, and has used it 30 times since then.  So has only had it for 4 months and not 16 months.  (You wouldn't buy a hoist in October 2019, start using it in December 2019 and only have used it 30 times up to now.  Similarly you wouldn't buy a hoist in October 2019 and not use it at all for 15 months, would you?  So I'm assuming it was bought 2020 not 2019.)

[EDIT:  Ah...  If the one year warranty has run out I'm talking rubbish and it must have been bought in 2019]

I couldn't make any sense at all of this bit:  "and all I have been offered is a repair for the amount of 3/4 of the amount which I paid. (£18.50 less than the cost of a new one)."

This is a Barh Chair Lift, and was purchased 26.10.19 whilst I was still in hospital and I was discharged on 23.12.19. and used after that date.   As I have not been fit enough to use the Bath Chair Lift a great deal of the time it has only been used approximately 28-30 times.
I’ve been offered a repair for the amount of 3/4 of the original purchase price.
.....and no I have not posted on legal beagle.

I read OP's post as "chair lift"  - that means to me a chair that goes up and down the stairs not one that helps a person have a bath. Perhaps I am wrong - could the OP clarify please ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
