Incorrect pricing

In December I booked a flight to the US for Nov 2021. The price was half of what I would expect, hence why I jumped on it. The airline are now saying there may have been a computer glitch when I booked online. I have paid in full already. Could they cancel my booking if they believe it was incorrect?

  • Do you have the small print in the Terms and Conditions handy ?
  • No, I guess I will need to hunt them out. It’s just that if it was an item then once I’ve handed over the money and walked out of the shop the transaction is complete no matter the mistake. Wondering whether this can be viewed the same

Definitely need to have a look at the terms and conditions - some airlines allow the booking to go ahead - others will cancel. Have you researched whether the airline has accepted its mistakes previously or whether they've given refunds?

That argument falls down with the many examples of online retailers and pricing errors.  The retailers are entitled to cancel the order and not dispatch and this happens.  Even seen examples where a retailer will recall items from the courier after dispatch.  Sometimes pricing errors will be honoured, for good PR, or to recover bad PR after a backlash.

No different for airlines.  There will almost certainly be a clause in the T&C's.  You say the airline have notified you of a pricing error... what are they saying? Do they want extra? Are they intending to cancel your booking?
  • We booked flights with Jet2, but the money taken is greater than the price we saw when booking online. They are using a term 'live pricing to explain, but booking online is as live as we can get. Is this correct for them to do this? My concern is that they have done this previously and it has been overlooked as you don't expect to need to check.

This seems a different issue to the OP's.
Do you mean the price from the time of flight selection to the price on the check-out screen was different?   It can happen but normally a pop up would indicate a price change. It certainly should show the final (new) price at the check-out or buy stage. Perhaps you can explain more.
