Pc not detecting WiFi signals

Pc not connecting to WiFi network .not sure if it is crap virgin WiFi or the dongle. Router is downstairs and the pc in the upstairs room. Pc is new windows 10. Any help most appreciated. Thanks

    Turn everything off then on again. If this doesn't work, check that no one is standing on a cable.

  • Does any device see the wifi in that room e.g. smart phone? 
    Can PC see the wifi if it's moved closer?
    Could well be house blocking signal, maybe use a booster or even better an internet over power lines ethernet connection so you get a better connection in the room

    as above - first step is to move pc closer to router and see if it connects

    does windows show the connection available?

    Have you a phone that uses WiFi, can it connect at the same location, what is the signal strength.
