"Non-System disk or disk error
Replace and strike any key when ready"

Computer will only get this far. What does it mean? What can I do about it?

This is on my main computer which I still haven't got connected to the internet though I keep trying on and off.

On my latest attempt I have the above message, so now it won't even start.

Ensure that there isn't a floppy disk in the floppy drive first of all.

    Thanks!

I'd just discovered that there was after posting... that was a quick reply though! :)

Still can't connect to internet though if anyone has any ideas on that.

    DG834G router - wired
3 computers - 2 connect to internet fine, main one won't at all
    LAN is connected
I've tried altering & resetting loads of times

Does your network card show up in Device Manager as enabled and working correctly?

EDIT: Has this only occured since you tried installing the mouse & keyboard?

Yes shows up as enabled & working ok.

Yes I think it happened when I tried installing keyboard & mouse. I was also changing provider at the time & thought it was a problem with ISP until I tried one of the other computers hours later!

I uninstalled the keyboard & mouse software and am using the original ones.

Boot into Safe Mode, go into Device Manager and uninstall any relevant network card entries (there may be more than one). Then reboot and let windows find the NIC and reload the drivers for it. Its possible that a common file was overwritten with a different version when you tried installing the mouse & keyboard.

    No difference after trying that.

It's not seeing the router, I've tried different cables & where it's plugged in. It keeps saying "this document contains no data" when I try to access internet.

Have you checked you're getting an IP? If you're not getting an IP then there is no chance the browsers are going to work

goto command prompt and type in ipconfig /all

what's it got for IP Address? do the same on one of the PC's that's working, only the numbers after the last dot should be different. Check subnet mask, default gateway, dhcp server and dns servers while you're at it.

If you've got an ip and you still can't ping the router then something is badly wrong. Go to My Network Places->View Network Connections what have you got in there? and what is the status for each item enabled/disabled, connected/disconnected etc

The port light on the router that the PC is plugged into is on isn't it?
You've also already disabled firewall so unlikely to be that.

Have tried this, when click ok the black window appears for a split second then vanishes again.
