Radiator replacement

I thought you were. 😀1

He did two. One in the bedroom was leaking. I only noticed in a week when the carpet became soaking wet. A piece of build in furniture was damaged by water. The other one in a holeway. Still is leaking but not heavily. I asked to replace the radiators but I thought he would do it in the end of the project. And right you are. He didn't ask me about anything and just did it. The bath was leaking after installation as well. My ceiling is damaged. It is not only the bathroom for me but also I dont know how to repair this bit of the furniture as I have to find matching chipboard.

Can you supply a link to exactly what your purchased? Generally, adding new TRVs are a separate part of the job, the "valve" that come with the radiator are the tails, ie, the pieces that fit inside the radiators that connect to the valves. You need to be clear as to what your purchased and what you required the plumber to do. At the moment it's not coming across that you are and it's only leading to confusion in this thread.alice60 said:I only paid a deposit. Should I ask him to replace the valves. Was it a part of the job? The valves which came free with the radiators I gave to him as I thought the old ones were ok. Thank you.1 -
Are you a plumber?0

I can't see anywhere where it says it comes with radiator valves. If you simply purchased the rad on it's own and asked someone to install it it doesn't surprise me that they didn't fit new TRVs. What's probably happened is you plumber has supplied new valves himself but only fitted the new tails onto the radiator using the TRV valve body already on your pipework.alice60 said:
And no, I'm not a plumber?1 -

Cheap, but perfectly serviceable, although the last one I had, the tail would not seal in the radiator regardless of how much ptfe tape was used.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -
(The reason why Alice is asking if folk are plumbers is because I suggested only a plumber could realistically comment on the quote amount.)Alice, this is becoming more confusing by the day. The rads that are leaking (eg the 'bedroom one) - have/had they been replaced yet? And he fitted a bath that leaked and caused damage to your ceiling - what's happening about that? What was the full job? What was the quote? How much have you paid? How much has he done?1
