as my previous reply to a zavvi topic, I couldn't spot their refund policy in the Salisbury store, and i cant even find their policy on it on the website either.
so my question is doesn't anywhere know where it is if in fact they actually have one...which imsure by law they would.
im im also doubly sure they be law need to have the refund policy on display.

There is no law on refund policies
Faulty goods need to be repaired/replaced/refunded yes
But anything beyond that is optional
There is no reason to display it either0 -
i was quite sure that they couldn't simple say no to cash refunds and lumber their customers with vouchers?
and i was equally sure that they needed to clearly display notice of this action0 -
that depends on the type of refund. If it's faulty goods then thisis covered by the law but anything else (the most common being a change of heart) then you're relying upon the stores policy and/or goodwill so if their rule is store credit then that's the rule you go by.Bought, not Brought0

Look at the Sale of Goods Act(Consumer Direct website)
Legally you need proof of purchase, even if the goods are faulty. That might be a bank statement or credit card receipt,or the receipt (did you say you had lost yours?) Other than that you would be relying on the goodwill of the company .If you have lost your receipt and they offered you vouchers, they are giving you more than they have to by law. However,if you have acceptable proof of purchase, you dont have to accept gift vouchers on faulty goods (the companys own packaging isnt necessarily proof though)0 -
like i said im more annoyed with the no cash refund even when you have the receipt, and the item was going to be happily exchanged for another dvd box collection.
their policy isn't the easiest thing to find....well i haven't found it yet0 -
just read your thread-if you have simply changed your mind they are no obligation to exchange it even-some companies wont even do that (pc world i think after 28 days).Neither are they under any obligation to give you vouchers-thats extra stuff they are offering as goodwill-law cant cover it unless they were taking away some of your rights.each shop is different.
its not really that she wont give you cash-its because you have changed your mind.if the goods were faulty you would get cash.Think yourself lucky they offered you giftvouchers.0 -
no no, right i think its again another time where my words are not being explaine dright.
the item i bought which according to my mum was the only fools dvd collection which was 99£ we later found out it was the ronny barker dvd collection at £40, the lady said yes we can exchange but even with the receipt you wont be getting a cash refund of the price difference.0 -
If the goods were misleadingly packaged, leading you to think you had bought one item, when in fact it was another-you would be entitled to cash.but if not..0

My colleague tried to return a duplicate xmas present (packaging not opened) to Zavvi and was told they absolutely never provide refunds and even if the management wished to do so, they couldn't as their cash register is not capable. This policy is not clear - is not advertised in store and the receipts just say "check online for terms and conditions". I can't see their refund policy online.
I'm going to avoid buying anything there and will shop at stores/sites with a decent refund policy.0 -
A bit late, but this link states:Returning products
If you wish to return any item(s) from your order please fill out the back of the Despatch Note which is sent with all orders, detailing your reasons for return. You can then send the package back to us using the Freepost address provided. Once we receive the item(s) at our warehouse, we will issue a refund or replacement as appropriate.
For any item(s) that are defective, damaged or sent in error by us, we will refund the cost of the item(s) plus the cost of any postage charges paid by you as part of your initial order (not applicable in UK since postage is free). If you require a replacement we will send this to you free of charge.
For items which are no longer wanted we will refund the cost of the item but we will not refund any postage charges paid by you as part of your initial order. We will not issue any refunds where the item has been removed from its sealed packaging.
Please note that items must be returned within 28 days of receipt in order for them to qualify for a refund.
Store returns (i.e. not online)
Purchases may be returned for an exchange if returned in their original condition within 28 days with a proof of purchase. We will not exchange multiple goods or previously exchanged goods.
Please note that if the purchase was made using a credit/debit card, the cardholder must be present. Due to the problem of unlicensed copying, in some instances we reserve the right to refuse an exchange. Your statutory rights are not affected.0
