Im unsure what you want Apple to do other than stay in the past and not make any new products?zagubov said:It's about £50 to get a new battery. I'd like to keep this phone going as long as possible. No point joining the costly consumer carousel that Apple is happy to keep turning at our massive expense. This ain’t a Apple thing this is simple logic of being a business making things for people to consume. If you don’t know who your customers are and keep moving forward then you go out of business.
Thank god for the likes of Nokia and Motorola for pushing mobile technology and consumer friendly products forward and for Apple, Google and Samsung for taking it to a whole new level.Apple don’t require every person on the planet to buy their phones. They don’t even need their existing customers to buy their latest phones every year. All they need to do is make a good enough phone that when the customer decides to buy a new phone they will stick with Apple and not go elsewhere.1 -
            Thought I'd give an update..
Still having same problems . However , I managed to contact Apple support and was given great help .The professional and polite adviser went through the mill with me so to speak , and she does not think that the battery needs replacing .I did actually print out advice about ways to preserve battery life etc and will see what gives.I notice now that my iPhone is not recognised on my iMac when charging , but it still charges . This is obviously due to the latest big sur updates I'm sure.My software version is at 14.4 at the moment .I have a case no of course ,and if I still have the same issues I can ask for further assistance .If I do need a battery replacement , it would be a pain as it would mean me posting to them and being without a phone for a few days possibly until this Covid situation subsides
I'm on the vulnerable category , so I'm avoiding shops etc for some time yet.I suppose, I am an Apple fanboy ( or whatever term is used these days ) and when I have the other stuff it seems sensible to stay with iPhones for convenience etc and accessibility no matter how expensive they may be . Apple's customer service is always good imho ,and m thankful that the se phone is their cheapest optoion . I'm on sim only which helps .
🤞there'll be an improvement now .
I'll leave it there...1 -

That pretty much sums me up. First smartphone was a donated somewhat aging 4 and I just found it very intuitive to use. I do have a samsung as my work phone but given the choice I'd still prefer the apple user interface.Deleted_User said:zagubov said:It's about £50 to get a new battery. I then upgraded to a refurbished 5 which when half the apps stopped working (which isn't just an apple Ios thing, my samsung tablet has the same issue); I was going to get a second hand 7 or 8 from CEX with a 2 year warranty but when the new SE came out decided it was worth the extra to future proof for a few more years.
There's no way I'd ever pay the silly money being charged for the newer models otherwise. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -

Apple knew years ago that people would be holding onto their phones longer as the specs of these phones are getting so good that you're not gaining as much year on year. My iPhone X is getting on to be 4 years old and battery capacity health is at 95% and phone still runs smooth as butter.elsien said:

When I ever decide to upgrade I will either trade it in or give it to my sis1 -

The phone will always charge to 100%, it’s just 100% of 91% of the original battery capacity.Biggus_Dickus said:
Even though my wife’s SE says 91% health it still indicates a fully charged state of 100%;..notwithstanding the 91% gubbins the battery still seems as good as it ever was.another_casualty said:My phone gets fully charged at 82% ( currently on 79%)
When it crashes, it normally happens when battery is around 22% approx . Once it starts charging again it doesn't seem to take too long to get it to 82% ..1
