DD has been doing induction at work and messaged me to say she's enrolled in the company pension very pleased that she didn't opt out. At 19, she's got almost a ten year head start on me.

First non-regular OP of the year £15 rewards from the current account to add to the one that goes out with the mandatory payment at the end of the month. That's just under two days interest.

Deep breath.

Mr C and I (well mostly me) sat down and looked at our finances. We had a chunk sitting in the current account partly for the upstairs renovation (that is just not going to happen anytime soon because of the complexity of the plan, the academic year, and waiting for our prefered builder and plumber) and partly just building up because we've not been able do anything for two years. So we have cancelled the regular OP and paid off a £10k lump. - That's two years of OPs at the rate we had been paying.

The plan going forward is to save and pay of lumps once or twice a year for more flexibility - we were just too cash heavy for where we are now.

I'll update our figures later when online banking has caught up!

It feels a little wierd @themadvix. Stupid as it sounds, I just hadn't realised we had built up as much as we had in cash, and the way the ecomony is changing, it just made sense.

It totally makes sense. If we don't move, we'll be aiming (work permitting) to pay our mortgage off at the end of the fix, given that interest rates only seem to be going one way.

Mixed day yesterday. Woke up to discover our car had been rifled through overnight - nothing taken and no damage fortunately, but other neighbours weren't so lucky. Frustratingly, the police clearly didn't read my report because their reply was because there was no cctv it couldn't be investigated - there was, I offered it to them and I told them the names of three other neighbours who could provide more

Anyway, nice bit of the day was taking doggos to Porchester to run around the castle and along the coast. Pup had a whale of a time chasing crows.

Mortgage update - with the lump sum OP we now owe £106,061

The next goal will be to get under 100k by September.
