@Poppycat1 I spent my birthday in the garden, taking in the roses and feeling chilled
And unusually, the sun shone.

First PopulusLive invitation in a month today - £3 closer to cashing out (£36/50), and it only took about four minutes - I was totally shocked when it said "Thank you for completing our survey"!

Morning All.Just one day at work this week, but it's a busy one, and I need to drop doggo at the groomer first.for the rest of the week Mr C and I are having a good sort out of the house, making a list of all the little jobs that need doing room by room, then starting on Project Bedroom, which will involve moving walls, taking out and redesigning the ensuite in the master bedroom, and ripping out the fitted wardrobes in the guest room - unless any of you clever people have any ideas for making them look less late-1980s? They are really solid, and useful, but look bleugh (apologies to anyone that has them and loves them) and limit what we can do with the room. They look like this:Actually this pic makes them look much nicer than they do in our house!Anyway, must get on, have a good day everyone.2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8565

I’ve no idea, but surely you must be able to get replacement doors for them like you would for a kitchen? If not from a wardrobe company then a joiner would be able to make something I’d have thought.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It seems a shame to get rid as they are nicely fitted and it’s only a guest room.
I’d also get a joiner to fit more contemporary doors and handles (or maybe get some Ikea doors for example that can be adjusted to fit). You could get matching bedside tables too. Having said that, it might be cheaper though to get rid and just buy a free standing wardrobe.5 -

That was my first thought @themadvix, but we would need to replace the sides too as they are really scuffed and the same colour as the doors (a grubby looking cream) I also think there is something about the over the bed design that is not working for me. The ones in the picture are exactly the same design as we have, but a lighter shade which maybe makes them look better.joshiesaunt said:It seems a shame to get rid as they are nicely fitted and it’s only a guest room.

They already have attached beside cabinets, @joshiesaunt, and I think you're right about the likely cost, so I suppose it will be about whether we want a more flexible layout for the room.

Finally made it to the gym! Well to the pool anyway, for an aqua class (nice and gentle on the foot) made all the better because the gym gave me two weeks free!

Made my first (tiny bit of) progress on Project Bedroom. I emptied a whole set of drawers and only put back what I will genuinely use, which got rid of two hairstying appliances, five pairs of glasses (when I can find an optitian locally who accepts donations for charities I will take them along - do optitians still do that?), a small bag of hair accessories I will never use again, numerous odd socks (perils of owning a spaniel) , four bras that are past their best and no longer fit, a kitchen bin sized bag of just rubbish, and all sorts of other oddments that really shoulddn't have been there! So I plan to do one similar task a day for the next week, which should leave us with a more minimal bedroom to get on with redesigning, and less to move once we do start on the build.2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8566

Morning All.The plan for today is:
- A morning of work (should be on leave, but something cropped up - I will take the morning some othe time)
- Project Bedroom day 2, empty wardrobe
- Appointment with consultant about foot
- Deadhead roses (rain is good for the plant, but not for the flowers)
I think that's enough for today.2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8566
