Chiglepig said:Doggo was booked in for a groom this morning. Lucky thing has been done every eight weeks through all but first lock down (his groomer does mainly working dogs so was considered a welfare service rather than a cosmetic one), I haven't had a haircut since last July. While we waited for him to be done, MrChigle and I had a pub lunch - may be wrong, but I think that was the first since Christmas 2019! The sun shone and we had a very friendly robin for companyMore small house woes, the kitchen window, which has been difficult to open for the last two years, is now impossible to shut (good thing we are working from home). And the oven/microwave is proving difficult to get fixed because no one 'does' the brand any more. If we can't get it fixed, we will need to replace both ovens

Anyway, mortgage payment and OP day tomorrow (fancy getting so excited about paying money out!), and payday on Thursday.MFW - 01.10.21 £63761 01.10.22 £50962 01.10.23 £39979 01.10.24 £27815. 01.01.25. £17538

Morning All, Mortgage update for the month:Outstanding balance as of 29th March 2021: £123,921Outstanding balance as of 28th April 2021: £123,041.83A bit grumpy that we're not below 122k, but to ensure that the numbers came down by 1k every month, I'd need to up the overpayment by another £300 per month which would mean I wasn't putting anything in the S&S ISA so I need to to stick with the plan (for now).2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8566

Just screened myself out of a Nectar Canvas survery because the questions were in French - my spoken French is passable, and I knew what the first few questions asked, but was flumoxed by the third screen!

Morning Chiglepig,
Have just caught up on your diary and enjoyed it very much thank you
I must know more about this robo vac you mention??? I have not made the admission yet on my own diary but I will whisper it here I have had a cleaner for 5 years shhhh. I do realise this is not very MSE at all but when living alone it gave me more time for study in my spare time and since moving in with OH I find it useful to reduce arguments concerning household chores. However I have just found out she is expecting and unless she is organising an alternative to herself I would not trust just anyone in my home and around my pets so I will have to go without
Wishing you a speedy full recovery for your foot if it is not better already!

Ahhh - MissMM - robovacs are amazing!
Especially if you get one which can also mop and map out rooms
Best purchase we made in 2020

@MissMoneyManager, as @greent says, they are brilliant - ours does also mop, although it was a cheapish one so it doesn't learn the room, but you can schedule it to come out every day while you're out! We got ours because our cleaner left. There are a few of issues to consider; after a couple of weeks, we do get a little build up in some of the more awkward corners that needs a proper corner tool to suck up, but it's the work of a few seconds; ours does get quite a build up of long hair around the brushes, but deals with dog and cat hair just fine; our entire downstairs is hard flooring - but is a large area - I don't know how well it deals with carpet because we use a traditional vac for the stairs and bedrooms. If and when vaccy dies on us, he will be replaced with a better model.More good news today:
- DD had her hours increased at work - at least until July, so she is now doing 20 hours intead of 10 and I can stop paying her a top up allowance!
- DH requested his Teacher's pension - lump sum on the way
- And I have suspended my gym membership while my foot heals and I think about whether I want to change to a more basic offering.

Another Robovac fan here. Ours was about £200 on offer from Am@zon. It doesn't replace the shark completely, but it keeps on top of the vacuuming and its great for going under beds and sideboards etc."Think of many things, do one"

Kitchen window solution found - it now closes fully, just need to get someone to come out to see if the mechanism can be replaced or if we need a whole new window. It's a good feeling to know we can afford either option but I'd rather not have to!

Thanks all for the input on robovacs, I can use the money saved on the cleaner to purchase one and will still be saving so I'm off to do some research! OH said he doesn't mind doing the hoovering but he also says he enjoys cleaning windows and i'm yet to see any evidance of that
Fingers crossed no window replacement necessary!6
