    a couple more points.

    1) Regarding not getting a test , not always so easy patient may be illegal to drive unless wearing spectacles most can't wait 6/12. Some patients are never stable at some point you have to try and do something. I have a patient who has 3 different pairs depending on how their blood sugar is on a particular day. Having sad that if they have just been diagnosed with a blood sugart massively raised no way would I be testing till at least settled a little.

    2) The law requires companies to fund specs that are SOLELY for VDU.  That normally requires an optometrist to sign that is the case.  They are not going to risk their professional career in making a false declaration so very few patients will be given a voucher on that basis. A lot of companies are more generous and will pay out for specs that can be used for VDU but they are not obliged to.
A SOLELY for VDU pair will normally be a pair focused specifically for the computer terminal and could be left at the desk.

Hello. Please can I have some advice?
Recently diagnosed diabetic and thought it best I get my eyes checked, as my eyes were going blurred when working on my laptop. Had a test and tried to use a voucher from work. Told couldn't use it as my eye test showed I wasn't in the right range? 2 for 1 - told I cant have that as I need distance and a pair for reading/work pc.
Bought 2 pairs and they don't work. The pair for driving are no different to my normal eyesight. And the reading/pc has shadows on the words, I feel eye discomfort and can see lights that are the signs of a migraine.  I have tried and tried with them, but I can't wear them. Can I get a refund? I've looked online and their site just says go back and they will help. I dont have confidence if they gave me 2 pairs of glasses I can't wear.
Are you sure that your annoyance at having to pay for the test and then for 2 pairs isn't affecting your assessment of the glasses?  Personally, I find that if I'm annoyed at the price of something, I'm a lot less likely to give it the proper chance to work!

Regardless of that, I've always found Specsavers very good at fixing problems so if they're not right, go back and find out why.  It might be a problem with the glasses themselves or something may have changed with you but they will fix it if it's possible.  It sounds like you still need glasses so you may as well give them a chance to fix it (and see if there is something that has changed with you).  You can ask to see a different optician, if you have lost confidence.

Of course I'm annoyed that work provide a £25 voucher as I use a pc all day. The dispenser glanced at it and said it cant be used. I have tried to get on with the glasses but they arent right. So I have 2 pairs of glasses that I can't wear. I'm not throwing £150 away. And I dont have any confidence in them, if they can get 2 pairs wrong. I'd rather get a refund and go somewhere else. Newly diabetic and they should know that your eyes change  I didn't know at the time. I wanted to get a test as I'm waiting on the diabetic screening that's offered. When I wear the pair for work  the screen distorts towards the bottom. And my hands and the keyboard are magnified. Its as if the glass is upside down. And the distance for driving makes sign fuzzy  so I cant wear them.
So I'd rather get a refund. I'm going back at the weekend and see what they say, but can't understand how both pairs are so wrong. And thank you for replying

Did you not try the specs on the shop when you got them? I was given texts of different sizes to read and could look around to check the distance vision.
It is possible the lenses were put in upside down by the technicians. Have you tried turning them upside down and looking at the VDU through them?
As I said I was not able to use the work voucher for VDU use because I need lenses for other distances as well. That was the rules attached to the voucher  that my work supplied. It is not the opticians fault. Take it up with your work.
Incidently,  I did not use  Specsavers at that time.

I did and I told her both pairs weren't right but I had my mask on and the glasses kept misting up. She said try them at home and see how they are. I'm going back on Sunday

When I look at my laptop   the sides of the laptop look bent outwards and my hands and the keyboard are huge. So they might be the wrong way. Also the driving glasses make my vision worse

    Is the central vison clear?
Peripheral Distortion and magnification is a normal function of spectacles lenses its impossible to say without seeing you some people are really sensitive to these things.  Is this your first pair for reading or have you worn before?. The higher the prescription they more distortion you will get

They work better if I have them on my forehead. I've just been using cheap reading glasses from B&M and my screen is set for bigger writing. I've tried for 2 weeks and my worse eye is my left eye and its fuzzy when I I wear them and close my right eye. It feels like I'm going to get a migraine . I just cant see through them properly. I'm really disappointed as thought they would work.

    Update
I went on live chat and was told I can get a refund.  Rang the store and explained they aren't correct and got a refund, no problems. I am too ill at the moment as I've just come out of hospital, so they let my son go in with the glasses and I'll have the money back in a week to 10 days.
