Hi there,
Looking for some help please! I was recently given a hire car while my car was being fixed. I got a message to say it was being collected, so popped to the petrol station and filled it up. I came back home, checked the car for damage and there was none.
Approx 30mins later I notice a guy working around my drive. I was on a call at the time, so as soon as I finished it, I went outside and it was the hire company agent. He then pointed out a scratch on the car. I said I hadn't seen it before, to which he said "it isn't deep, I'll check with the office". I immediately called the customer services who told me they would be in touch if necessary. 6 days later they emailed me to say they are invoicing £250 + £40 admin fee!
I'm livid as I'm convinced there was nothing there before and the guy inspected it without me there. I think he probably rubbed away some dirt and did it! It is a tiny scratch, that probably a good wash and wax would remove.
Their terms and conditions say they will inspect with you present but they are saying that doesn't apply because of COVID. What can I do?
