Teapot55 said:The original poster @mrsdoubtful might want to think about how much money she is putting into the joint account every month. Maybe change the amount to something a lot less (enough to cover each month’s bills but no more?) and pay the rest into an account that only you can access (sole name account)?
If the OP has been covering all the payments via a transfer to the joint acccount, I'd switch them to instead come out of their personal (non joint) account and stop paying into the joint account - I'd probably freeze the joint account too.
OH should be responsible for his own credit card bills.5 -
sorry for the long delay in replying (real life intervened) and thank you for the many useful replies with advice and suggestions, some of which i have made a start on doing.
"i am guessing that you can see his revolut account? otherwise why the convoluted movement into a joint account? if it was me, i would just use the revolut and not let you see it. it seems a bit odd that he would use a joint account for something that he doesn't want you to see. sounds like a school boy error?"
i cannot see the revolut account, so yes, pointless schoolboy error (or deliberate to provoke a reaction maybe?)
for those who ask why am i continuing, what outcome do i want etc.; obviously the marriage is doomed, i just feel that i need some concrete evidence, for myself, my adult children and any other family members who i expect he would try to alienate from me, sadly.
"I find this a strange thread and struggle to take this at face value."
^ to the poster who said this: yes i agree, i find it strange and unbelievable too and i am living it. promise i'm not a troll and this is a genuine request for advice.
i have the account number that money is being shunted off to, just don't know how to get further! anyone know about freedom of information request, which has been suggested to me on another forum?
anyway thanks again, and any more advice still welcome! i am taking it all on board xx

Can you confirm the route of the money is as I think it is?If that's correct then you don't need a freedom of information request, you simply get copies of statements for a few months (to demonstrate the payments going out on a frequent basis), take & hide copies in a secure place & then confront your husband.1

i have taken screenshots of the statements in question and emailed to self etc. for safekeeping, but i still want to find out as much as i can myself first as he has form for lying and gaslighting, i mean i could put the copies in front of him and he wouldn't be embarrassed to say to my face that these were fake, for example . sad but true.0 -
A freedom of information request is not applicable, as the financial institutions are not subject to those rules (they apply to government / public bodies).
The OP would also not be able to make a Subject Access Request (SAR) for accounts she is not party to, e.g. accounts in her husband's sole name.1 -
Yep, as pointed out there's really no easy way for you to find out who the account belongs to, it's not your data. Ultimately if you aren't prepared to confront him about it (or believe what he says) there's really very little you can do.0
