Samsung TV breaking 15 months after purchase

Our Samsung TV has broken, just 15 months after we bought it. It is out of its 12 months manufacturers warranty. The screen is broken, as a result of a manufacturing defect and it is not repairable. A repair firm have confirmed this is the problem and will be writing us a report to this effect. Can we claim 1) on our credit card or 2) under the consumer goods act? If so, how do we go about doing this and what are our chances of succeeding? Thanks

Consumer Rights Act against the vendor if you have evidence that it is a manufacturing defect .Vendor has choice to replace , repair or refund ( less 15 months usage .1

I have found Samsung has excellent customer support and it might also be worth calling them

Thank you for your reply. The problem is that we bought it in Nov 2019, so it is just over 15 months old. We bought it from Currys PC World. Does this consumer rights act apply to us still?JJ_Egan said:Consumer Rights Act against the vendor if you have evidence that it is a manufacturing defect .Vendor has choice to replace , repair or refund ( less 15 months usage .0 -

YES CR is potentially valid for 6 years and is the law not a warranty .

A chip that controls the screen has malfunctioned so the TV doesn’t turn on. We have been told by a TV repair company that it is not replaceable as it’s a faulty component. It is not the first time this has happened as other people have been affected by it too.Neil_Jones said:How is the screen broken? What effect do you get on it?0 -

Hope for me yet then! Last year I noticed blue patches on my £850 pound curved tv purchased in 2017. Currently waiting for lockdown to end so I can get a Report done as I was told this was a common fault. Samsung were quite clear about their 12 month warranty. Looking forward to the argument with Argos when I finally get the report. Surprised this has not become a new recall, luckily Argos have found a record of my purchase.0
