DLA to PIP backdated?

poppy12345: Just a thought, your poor faith in them aside, given the handler clearly stated that it would be back dated, I just wonder if there is a difference between being "pushed" and "jumping", I am guessing understandably most don't jump. I will try and get an answer next time I have need to call them.0

The person you spoke to clearly has no knowledge of the rules because there's no backdated money paid when transferring from DLA.

I do wish the admin workers at DWP would stop giving 'advice'.They're Just like the GP receptionists who think they're doctors 🙄😂2

You are advised to contact DWP as soon as possible if your condition changes. Better or Worse.
The only backdating i know of is if your award changes after a claim is put in and then reassessed for MR or appeal but all on PIP, not DLA to PIP as they are different benefits.
If you apply for PIP and get awarded a higher amount than on DLA then its either because the descriptors are different so qualifying is different, or your condition has got worse. Anyone can apply for PIP if they think they'll get a higher award so if you think that's the case you should have applied sooner rather than wait for an invitation.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
cantcope: I didn't wait for an invitation, as per that explained previously in this post, I elected to jump from DLA to PIP due to worsening health.2

I actually understand what RobinHill means. His condition has deteriorated and believes he should receive higher. Innocently believed would be backdated and reflected increased rate. I feel this site is so judgmental of those who successfully gained benefits. Ignoring the fear of not. Telling posters I got it and gloating is not helpful. Good luck and let us know, our career is not claiming benefits xx1

I don't see anyone judging or gloating. All i can see are members giving facts. I'm sorry if people don't like those facts that were given but we don't make the rules, just advise people of them.

poppy12345: I am not sure about gloating, but you do get some odd and fairly judgmental remarks for what is I understand is a help forum for disability matters. For instance eluding to that I am "applying only to gain extra money", "why didn't I claim earlier", and "you should have applied sooner rather than wait for an invitation.". All of which are wrong as I have explained, I applied when it was appropriate to do so and of my own volition and not through DWP invitation.

The reason for the "why didn't you claim earlier" question was because you asked about backdating if successfully awarded, which can never happen when transferring from DLA.You have to remember also that this is a public forum and you will always get some replies that you don't like, people can and do post what they want.1

Answers you do not agree with doesn't mean the person is being judgemental. If posters are sure they already know the answer I'm unsure why they post only to go off on a tangent1
