the supermarkets must be mad at me as I keep compiling orders then going, "no, don't really need it" and cancelling. Oh well.
I have placed a non-cancellable order for ridiculously expensive vegan low carb donuts for easter weekend, when everyone else will have eggs. I seem to be back on track, so have decided not to feel guilty. They are so much tastier than anything I make myself!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24003 -

Oh dear - well & truly bust now! I did all right at the market this morning and spent £39, which would have put me at £500/£500 (forgetting the two small supermarket spends I've mislaid the receipts for) BUT then a lorry fell over on the main road... I went to help DD1 move a piece of furniture up from her beloved's flat, but was massively delayed on the way home by the road being closed and all other possible routes being gridlocked. DD2 had never cooked the main dish I'd planned for the family tea, and nearly melted down (she has AS issues) when I asked whether she thought she might try, not even having a recipe. So we had to have fish & chips... luckily we can afford it, so it's not a disaster, but a nice treat, though an unplanned one. And I'm now massively over budget. Oh dear. Never mind, we can eat the planned tea tomorrow instead.
Goes to show, it's always worth having a little left in the tank, so to speak...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5 -
Mystifyingly a post where I owned up to having spent more money in the supermarket has vanished along with a rant about a certain shop not stocking soap which has probably saved those of you who read this thread several minutes of life. All very peculiar, oh well.
My total to date is now £103.99/£124 which is an average spend per day of £3.99, things are going suspiciously well at goldfinches mansions, this is usually the moment when it all goes to hell in a handbasket, night all and sweet dreams, goldfinches.5 -

@thriftwizard don’t worry, I’ve completely blown the budget too. The best we can do is try again and reevaluate. The best and most important thing is that we’re all fed nicely and aren’t suffering.4

@thriftwizard I would be putting the fish and chips against the entertainment budget instead of housekeeping!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
