Just a thought, is it possible that the driver delivered to the house next door (25 or 29) and took the photo thinking that neighbour would throw it into number 27?
Most houses have walls between them, or so I heard.
I have no idea what you are missing in my post.

What I was missing in your suggestion was that I couldn't for the life of me understand why the driver would deliberately deliver "to the house next door (25 or 29) and took the photo thinking that neighbour would throw it into number 27".

I can't speak for 2021BJ but I couldn't make sense of any of that.  (Why not just deliver it to 27 in the first place?  It's literally within reach).  Not that there is an over-abundance of sense anywhere in this thread.

Package is addressed to 27, driver delivers to 25 but takes picture of 27 to get the item off their job list / doesn't understand the procedure.  Driver assumes 25 will take round to 27.
Still makes it EJ's problem to replace/refund and then claim against couriers.
I need to think of something new here...
  • EJ trying to insinuate they have raised an investigation with DX but they are satisfied with the delivery, so I spoke with DX and a nice lady checked with her manager and confirmed DX have never raised an investigation. She said she doesn’t see why they wouldn’t as they would just claim the loss with DX.

awful team leader in EJ is doing her best to be difficult and not open an investigation. I have requested a different team leader takes over the case.

That is truly shocking customer service from Ernest Jones.

Are you getting all of this information in writing or are you dealing with DX and EJ by phone?
If in writing, it should be easy to demonstrate that this woman dealing with your issue is lying.
    And get it escalated.

Tell me about it, I’m exhausted from trying to sort this.

Mostly email so we have evidence, DX confirming EJ have never opened an investigation is by phone but I do have something along the same lines in an email from a DX manager a few days ago, basically saying they can open an investigation when EJ requests it.

The bottom line. you have done nothing wrong, so let them "investigate" and hopefully bring in Colombo's son as that family always got to the bottom of it.

Did you see the link I posted last night and their reviews with very similar cases to yours?

I did thank you! Yes they seem to be woeful. At least they are willing to open an investigation (not that I hold high hopes for them judging by the reviews)

Ernest Jones on the other hand, I won’t even begin to describe what they are as the choice of words would likely get me blocked!

We are willing to go to the small claims court over this as we believe the countless evidence we have is in our favour. The neighbour at 27 has even said he will sign a testimony that the delivery driver left the property with the parcel if it goes to court.

I just wish it wasn’t causing this much stress, I am mentally drained.

So I have the photo of the front door. It is closed and is actually taken from outside next doors front door and there is a gate separating the two front doors. So he wasn’t even at the correct front door when he took the photo. I have messaged DX on Facebook and they have said the photo should be taken of the parcel on the doorstep with the door open to prove it was accepted, and that the item wasn’t left on the doorstep. There is no parcel in the photo. So the delivery  man has literally taken a photo of a closed front door from behind a gate (not the gate leading to the property) a gate that seperates the delivery house from their next door neighbour. I’m baffled.
The door must have been open at some point if the neighbour refused delivery.
Untrue (or at very least illogical) :)
Indeed - pretty easy to avoid opening the door, especially these days for those with Ring or similar devices (looks like one in the photo).
If by "similar devices" you mean a letterbox, yes. I have one, and used it to talk to the driver ;)
  • I emailed the CEO of Ernest Jones and have had a response from the ‘Senior Customer Resolution Advisor at Ernest Jones Executive and Social Media Team’

She is investigating this. Let’s hope she can have the decency to open an investigation with DX

I think that may well do the trick.
And a certain customer services person may well get a rocket up her...
She deserves one at the very least.
